If you think that the RC is screwed up, wait until you have to take a class on baptism and get one of the catholic nazis that tells you the god parents have to catholic, have to have been married in catholic church, etc, etc, so on and so forth. We had a catholic couple in our class that asked a question and said their selected Godparents were catholic but not actually married in the church. the instructor went off on some hitleresque diatribe and i thought the poor girl was going to cry. We pulled her aside later and said she may want to consider going elsewhere. the church we go to never asked if the godparents were married int eh church, but only if they were 'catholic'. So to say the catholci church is screwy is a huge understatement.

So, what’s the point of having Godparents if they don’t believe enough to be married in the Church? The purpose of Godparents is to be living examples of Catholic faith, other than the parents.
Sometimes the lay instructors might not phrase things in the best way, but if the Baptism instructors had to deal with many parents with your lousy attitude, their patience would wear thin. Why do you bother going to get your child baptized? Do you think it’s some kind of magical potion?

Techdiver,

Assuming that the elements are indeed the body and blood of Christ, how could any influence desecrate them? A demonic or evil force would not have any effect on the presence of Christ, right?
It’s not a matter of whether demonic acts would harm Christ, present in the Eucharist, but it’s a matter of our act of reverence for Christ.

that there is zero proof of the RCCs claim about Peter and Rome

St. Peter's is built over the tomb of St. Peter, in Rome.

It never ceases to amaze me how how much the Church is misunderstood.

I think the main reason for it is that people when looking across the fences look at other churches from their own perspective.

The difference between Catholics and Protestants isn't simply one of practice or dogma - it is a difference of perspective and viewpoint towards God.

To suggest that the Church believes only Catholics can go to heaven is an obvious sign of this cloudy vision.

I disagree. I think it is a difference of perspective and viewpoint towards the church.

I always thought this was the difference.

TechDiver. I agree and disagree. In the context of my point I should have said church instead of God - but in reality - it is the perception of the relationship between Church and God that is different.

Perhaps we see part of that difference in the song I am sure we all learned in VBS and 1st grade sunday school.

quote:
I am the church. You are the church. We are the church together. All who follow Jesus all around the world. Yes we're the church together.

Perhaps we view how that works differently. Is it important? Yes! Does it mean we cannot still enjoy Christian fellowship with one another? Forbid it not!
