Enough of this... who wants to go grab a few brews with me?

To the extent that this is a Religion & Philosophy board, any one of us can post topics on here that we deem appropriate as freely as you can.

Oh, I see. You can post what you want but we should be careful that what we post doesn't insult what you hold sacred. Isn't that convenient?

I feel that it is my duty as a Christian to shed light on theologies that claim to be Chrisitan but which are definitely not. If ONE person reads a thread about sacred mormon underwear and decides that it's ridiculous to investigate a religion that has such beliefs, then I have done what I intended to do. Sorry if that insults you. I don't answer to you.

BTW, it is IMPOSSIBLE to not open the LDS threads b/c ibm turns EVERY thread into an LDS thread.

Sorry MissyAg94, but this a Religion and Philosophy Board, that, the last time I checked, does not exclude LDS theology which is just as valid to be discussed as the Catholic point of view or the Protestant point of view. I am never offended by either when it is expressed on this board, because, mainly nothing that is or could be said threaten my beliefs. I am sorry, but this obviously not the case for you.

PS -Missy, you should also learn that when a religious topic is discussed and different view points are offered, I frequently do offer the LDS point of view. I find it very surprising at first and then amusing that this point of view many times derails the thread because they have to deal with a point of view that they have never considered or don't know how to deal with or have to try to explain away, usually ineffectively.

Really? So why do you whine when someone insults what is "sacred" to you? We are free to post what we want. What are you afraid of? If you don't like the posts that expose the secrets of your church then don't open the threads. Look at that. It works both ways.

BTW, I would like to thank you and Liam for helping me illustrate my point so well.

Good night Missy, are you 13 years old or are you always so abrasive? All I'm saying is that if you're so sick of LDS topics, be a little proactive. As much as you find my beliefs insulting to you, I find yours to be equally so. So what? I have to wade through topics to find one that engages me just like you. Grow up and live with it.
Liam

And I'm done. You can post what you want, I can post what I want, and I never said anything differently. We can both pay more respect to each other's beliefs. See how that works? Happy Easter to you!

Liam, I WAS MAKING A POINT! Jeez. Don't you get it? As much as you Mormons complain about us insulting what is sacred to you, you do the same to me. But I don't complain it. You are the one who needs to get over it! If you can't deal with people posting about your church's secrets, then go post on a religion board that is LDS only. Otherwise, stop crying about it like children.

I am convinced that joining JS's church actually changes the way peoples' brains work. So bizarre.

MissyAg94 -you are also moving from the ignorant to the "stupid' group if you can't see the difference between the sacred ceremonies and published doctrine. I have never made fun of "dunce" caps, the ostentatious trappings of the pope, etc. nor do I intend to. If you wish to discuss the value or efficacy of the temple ordinances that is fine. When you wish to ridicule publicly that which is private, that is where the line is crossed. Your sacrament is passed publicly. We believe they are the emblems of Christ's body and blood; you believe they get changed into the actual blood and body of Christ. This is the basis of a valid discussion. No ridicule of the actual sacrament itself or its purpose. I could go on and give example after example, but I think you get the idea.

Missy -I just read your last post.

I am convinced that joining JS's church actually changes the way peoples' brains work. So bizarre.

I challenge you to attend an LDS block of meetings and tell us on the Board what you found. I have been to Catholic mass. This will be a neat experience for you and in Sunday School well as in Relief Society, you can ask questions without risk of being made fun of or being intimidated. If you believe me on anything, trust me on this. And that goes for anyone on this board!

First of all, I'm not Catholic. Second, you moved into the "stupid" group many years ago. Finally, you have done more to hurt your cause by your behavior on this board than ANYTHING anyone else has ever posted. So stop playing the mormon victim. No one's buying it.

The difference betweeen you and me is simple, really. Christ is enough for me. He's all I need. I'm sorry that He wasn't enough for you.

Genesis, as I have said in the past. My husband and I have had many experiences with Mormons in our time as a military family. We know, with all of our hearts, that JS was a liar. God made that so vivid to us that we would never put ourselves in the position to be influenced in any way by the LDS church. Thanks for the invite, though.
Genesisag

Missy -The bottom line is that you don't have the courage to go. Whatever made it "clear" to you and your husband, I can promise you, it wasn't God. I wish I could hook you up with some of the former Catholic priests as well as ministers from different churches who have joined the Church and let you listen to them as to what they thought before they came in "real" contact with the Church, then what they found as they investigated and then what they found after joining and having been members for a number of years.

It's has nothing to do with courage. Why would I go to a church that is FALSE? Why would I waste time in a false church when I could be worshipping God. I KNOW your church is false. I KNOW that JS was a liar. I KNOW these things.

I would appreciate it if you would respect the fact that God made it clear to us that your church is not Christ's church. God revealing things to me is sacred and you should respect that.

Speaking of courage, do you have the courage to answer the following question: If the LDS church is false, would you want to know? Would you want to know if JS was fraud? Would you?
Genesisag
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Sorry Missy -You "know" nothing of the sort. You might believe that but that is all. I can tell that you may believe in or like your church but you have no witness that it is true. If you did you would declare it so on this board. Did it ever occur to you that you might be more effective in your discussions with Mormons in your attempt to persuade them of the error of their ways if you actually examined them and their beliefs up close in their own setting. I remember your friend who had either lost or never had a testimony but whether you had good Mormon friends or bad Mormon friends, you need to check it out for yourself. Like the NT says in John 1:46 "And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. You might recall, they didn't believe that Jesus could be the Savior either.

I was originally convinced that Joseph was a fraud and spent almost a year trying to prove it before I joined. Over the years, I have been exposed to all the "new" disclosures about Joseph, which are for the most part, rehashes. Brigham Young and John Taylor said the critics could not contend against the doctrine that Joseph preached so, as a last resort they would attack his character with lies and misrepresentations. It was interesting that the Angel Moroni first told Joseph in the beginning that his name would be had for good and evil throughout the world. An amazing declaration to someone whose life was probably such that he would be fortunate if he were known outside his county.

I know that JS was a fraud. And you are in no position to tell me what I know. God knows my heart. And you are not God.

The friends who tried to convert us were members in good standing in the LDS church who still believed in it. The girl who you are referring to is not the same person.

Honestly, I'm not trying to convert you to Christianity. You have heard Christ's gospel and decided to go another way. I pray for you, that you will see the truth. But I'm not trying to convince you of anything on this board.

Okay, 747, I'll bite. Can I have wine instead? But I don't think Genesis will be partaking.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Missy -If you belived in the "great commission" you would. I know that whatever is in "your heart" about Joseph, God did not put it there, no matter what you think. I am glad that you believe in the principle of modern revelation, even though it has two different sources. But as they say, ignorance is bliss. But you will eventually find that is not really the case on this matter. I didn't just rely on my Baptist minister or well meaning Baptist friends to tell me what the LDS Church believed and/or practiced. Thank God that I did not!!

ddiddly -(Nor the many other millions of members of the Church around the world)If it were, she would be involved in missionary work for her church or faith on this board and with her friends. Has she ever invited them to her church or offered to go to church with them? I doubt it.

Missy, before you opt for wine, you should try one of these:

Rasberry

Cherry

Peach

Black Currant

Missy, it's lambic beer. It's Belgian. It's got a strong fruit flavor. It's almost too sweet for my tastes, but my wife likes the Raspberry (Framboise).
