How long do you want to ignore this user?

This is my 4-year-old daughter Megan's second off-campus Bonfire. Class of '24, hopefully she'll get to build one on campus.

My 5 year old daugter (Class of 2023) has made it to the Comal County A&M Club Bonfire every year since she was born. She's officially a junkie. Hope we can get to the Student Bonfire one of these years.

Great pics!

Keep up the good work!

How did the height of this bonfire compare to pre-99 Bonfires?

Not as tall, but still pretty awesome. This one was approx 45-50 feet. I beleive the pree 99 stacks all stood at aroud 75-77 feet (after height restrictions were placed)

The height restriction was 55', but the last Bonfires on campus were probably 10-15' higher than that.

Cool. I had someone tell me it was taller than the on campus bonfires, and I didn't argue, but from the pictures it didn't look as tall. If figured you'd have to have a crapload of tall trees since they are all touching the ground!

How tall was the tallest Bonfire?

Bonfire this year was about 30 feet high

I'm not sure which stack you were looking at, but it wasn't the Student Bonfire's.

Tallest Bonfire in history was 109 feet. After that, height restrictions put in place limited Bonfire to 55 feet, but after the collapse it came out that the limit had been regularly exceeded for at least a decade. The 1999 stack would've been 70-75 feet tall when completed.

The 1992 Bonfire commission recommended limiting height to 45 feet. The Comal A&M Club bonfire was 12-15 feet tall. Just from the pics I've seen online, this year's Student Bonfire was, I'm estimating, 30-35 feet tall. Height isn't so much the important thing, methinks, as the tiered wedding cake structure. That's what give it the appearance of mass.
