Although we all know Neely earned their flag during the hardest part, Cut, congrats OC; Y'all really deserved it! Answering those questions a little less stupid than Neeley really showed how deserving it was.

If this system continues, we all know now to sit around during Cut, or just don't show up. So crews can go to stack, stand around, (bring numbers, that's an important one), and win a challenge. I mean, it's all about Poles anyway right?!


That last statement was sarcasm, BTHO BONFIRE, We're ALMOST there guys, but enough with the pole challenging, it's entirely New Army. Let's just focus on building the hell.

no one here is knocking Neeley for their work during cut. Neeley had good numbers then and did their fair share of work. However, to even imply that OC has no merit for a flag other than because we answered "those questions a little less stupid than Neeley" is ludicrous. You are right, cut is an extremely important part of bonfire. Several crews posted outstanding numbers and did well more than their anticipated work this year. Neeley definitely outperformed expectations, and they should be proud of being honored with a perimeter pole. However that being said it's not something you can achieve and just walk away from this year. True, the contests may be a tad trivial (I thought the reds did a good job improving them from the mcinnis/HHH challenge) but it's not about the challenge, it's about the concept. If all we did was cut bonfire would never get built. While the physical demands of cut may seem more strenuous to you, it is ultimately no more important to bonfire than stack. Without all the pieces the puzzle cannot be built. Now I'm not discrediting Neeley's stack effort in the slightest here, Christina Renfroe has been to almost every stack and Neeley pulls decent numbers on their nights. What I am saying is while you may disagree with the way the challenges as a concept work, don't discredit OC because of it. OC has had some of the best stack numbers out of everyone this year. We have had good numbers not only on our on but also our off nights. Neeley should be proud that they earned a pole this year, but OC should be proud for what they've accomplished too. If you really feel like gaining a perimeter pole is your motivation for bonfire: "if this system continues, we all know now to sit around during Cut, or just don't show up" then maybe you're not in this for the right reasons. I show up to BTH, not because of some pole.
