quote:
1. Would you like to see Bonfire return to Aggieland? Why or why not?
“I would love to see the Bonfire return to Aggieland. I think it has always been one of the most cherished traditions at Texas A&M & one that should continue on for younger generations to experience.”

2. Do you think it is possible for Bonfire to return to campus?
“I definitely think it is possible and with the right plan in place and support from alumni, students and faculty it is certain to return to campus.”

3. What advice would you give to students who want to be involved in pushing for Bonfire's return?
“Don't sit back and expect someone else to do the work for you. Students have the loudest voice on campus and the Aggie spirit is what makes Texas A&M such a special place. Be proactive and start a movement that forces decision makers to listen to you. You are 50,000 strong and the heart of the University. If you don't make your voice heard then it will never happen because Bonfire has and always will be a student driven event. Without the students there is no bonfire.”

4. You were plenty busy working on bringing A&M championships during the fall while you were at A&M. Did you ever get to participate in Bonfire? What was your experience like?
“When I was playing at A&M, the bonfire was always the most anticipated event for me and the rest of the team. Just the sheer size of the event was astonishing. Knowing that we had a student body so dedicated and capable of building such a massive structure and putting on event that drew over 80,000 people was always amazing to me. There is not another university in the world whose student body could coordinate such an effort and that's what makes Texas A&M a very unique experience.”

5. What is your most memorable Aggie Football Experience and Bonfire Experience?
“My most memorable experience would clearly be my senior year when I had the opportunity to speak at bonfire the night before we beat the hell out of t.u. Speaking to a crowd that large was something I'll never forget.”

6. What were your thoughts when you learned the 1999 Bonfire had collapsed taking the lives of 12 Aggies?
“I'll never forget that day as long as I live. I was walking into the Indianapolis Colts complex to prepare for practice and I saw the collapsed bonfire on CNN. My heart sank at the thought of all the students that were injured or died that day. It was a tragedy and certainly the 12 Aggies that lost their lives will never be forgotten.”

7. What ideas do you have that might help to increase Bonfire support throughout the Aggie Family?
“I can't think of better way to honor the 12 Aggies that lost their lives than to continue the tradition they so strongly believed in. In my opinion, continuing to not have the bonfire on campus is a dis-honor to their memory.”

8. What tips do you have for really getting Chancellor McKinney fired up about a possible Bonfire return to campus?
“First of all, I do not speak for my father, just as he doesn't speak for me, but it's not about getting Chancellor McKinney fired up. He cares more about Texas A&M than anyone I know, but the students are who have to drive this charge. If the voice of the students is loud enough, I can assure it will be heard. I think we learned a lot after the 1999 collapse and any plan to bring bonfire back to campus will require efforts from both the student body and the A&M system. It will require working together on a plan that will ensure that what happened in 1999 never happens again.”

9. And finally, what are your predictions for the upcoming Aggie Football season & how do you feel about the coaching staff Head Coach Mike Sherman has put together?
“I think Coach Sherman has put together a great staff and I have complete confidence in him and believe that A&M is heading in the right direction. We need to all be patient and let the plan work.”
