The casting of younger people in roles we are already used to thinking of as belonging to older actors is always problematic. I remember once reading an article about 20 years ago about how they were going to make a movie about Patton as a young officer in Mexico with Pershing and they were thinking of casting the young heartthrob Alec Baldwin as Patton.
Anyway, I started playing a little game of recasting favorite movies with the worst possible people.
For example, Bobcat Goldthwaite as Gus, Jason Alexander as Call and Bette Midler as Clara. Chris Rock as the Danny Glover character. Mel Brooks could direct that one. I'm sure there could be worse but they would definitely bust the mold.
