I just got back from the show at The Backyard. Jack was very good... he's not the greatest live act, but enjoyable nonetheless. Matt Costa was okay as an opening act. ALO... not so much.
The setup at the venue wasn't the greatest. The acoustics were nice, but the setup for the crowd was just general admission... your choices were to stand or to sit on the ground. I hope that I have a chance to catch him in a smaller venue with a better setup sometime.

hes going to be at the nokia theatre in grand prarie or something on the 7th? or the 5th? not sure.

what did you expect from a jack johnson show? pyrotechnics?

No, I wouldn't expect fireworks or anything like that... that's not what makes for a good live act. A good live act gives me something more than I could get by just listening to a CD - Nickel Creek and Rodney Crowell come to mind as acts that bring that something extra.
Again, I enjoyed the show, and I think Jack's a great musician and songwriter. I think the venue/crowd took something away from the show last night. If he played a small venue where camera-phones and college kids were banned, I'd go again in a heartbeat.

I went to the Dallas show on Wednesday and thought it was awesome!! Wasn't too happy with the opening acts, and it took Jack a few songs to get into it, but it was a great show overall. I love the banana pancakes song!
