Just rented it last night. Not sure if I liked it or disliked it, although there were some funny scenes. Reminded me of "About Schmidt", where the main character is pondering the meaning of his life and is surrounded by disfuctional people. What category do movies like these fall under? They're not really comedies, although you often hear them labeled as such. More like a combination of comedy and drama.

Or are those more along the lines of a HS kid losing his virginity to the love of his life on prom night before going off to college the next day?

I would label it under the "Boring" catagory.

sideways was a very overrated movie. it was pretty average.

i just saw it saturday for the first time. my gf fell asleep. i thought it was a little slow. very overrated.

I think it takes being probably 35 or older to get into this type of movie. I'm an '80 and I found it pretty funny. The Giamatti/Church commentary on the DVD is better than the actual movie at times.
