Philip Seymour Hoffman's first acting credit was in S1:E14 ("The Violence of Summer") of Law & Order and as an added bonus his character's defense attorney was played by Samuel L. Jackson.

I think it would be hard to find a dramatic TV actor who hasn't shown up on L&O. The list of who later became stars or at least recognizable has to be 3 digits.

Miami Vice was the 80s version of this.

Lots of actresses that went on to big things after being on Seinfeld.

"They're real, and they're spectacular!"

God these people knew what they were doing (leaving "big" out of the equation).

That episode, The Pilot, is one of the Top 5 Seinfeld episodes!

Coincidentally, the hypnotist they brought in during that episode is also named Philip Hoffman

Idris Elba was in an episode.

Kerry Washington was also in the same episode. Great episode.

Six episodes later in that season Josh Radnor shows up.
