My only issue with Season 1 was how tame these "mobsters" are.
In the movie, those mobsters put on that "Gentleman" identity, but they were brutal. In Season 1, I felt they portrayed the main characters as way too nice. Aside from that, I enjoyed it.

Ep 1 was fun, we're introducing some colorful new characters. I'm interested to see where they take this.

The season finale was amazing. This was a great season.

A fantastic series of TV. Loved it.
Great characters - Susie, Eddie, Bobby, the MP, Jack, Jeffrey, weed grower guy, etc.
Italian mafia and posh UK crossover storylines
Beautiful camera work shooting beautiful areas of the world
Suspense, laughs, mystery, intrigue, action.
Again, just very fun to watch.

Just finished S2 - ramped up is an understatement. Whole season, every episode was lots of fun. Can't wait for S3

Finishing up Season 2 now, and this has become one the absolute best shows on any network right now. It runs circles around 99% of other so-called prestige shows....writing, directing, and cinematography. Such tight episodes with none of the hand-waving away of plotholes that's required of those other shows.
And watching Theo James in season 2 tells me he absolutely has everything it takes to be James Bond. It doesn't sound like it'll happen though, but he would be fantastic in this role.

Yup or went full on Thomas Shelby. Great season would love a third.
My wife and I really enjoyed it and it's damn near perfect. I'll be honest and say that they definitely tipped their hat to The Godfather with some of the scenes and themes but they pulled it off, in my opinion. I will be going back and watching both seasons to tie them together a little cleaner but it's better than most stuff out there.

Yeah the first couple episodes I thought were a little slow but the rest of the season really made up for it.
The "slowdown strike" I thought was kind of funny. As was the bird thing lol. I'd like to think that sort of stuff happens more often in real life than anyone wants to admit.

Yep, definite Godfather and Breaking Bad nods and vibes and this is one of the few shows I've seen be able to successfully and believably pull it off.

Finally got around to watching all of Season 2. I enjoyed Season 1, but Seasons 2 was far superior. One of my biggest criticisms of S1 was that all our main gangsters just seemed too tame and not really deadly or punishing. Well, that definitely changed this season.

I wasn't sure after episode 1 of Season 2 if I was going to like the slight darker change in tone from Season 1. But by the end of Season 2 my personal rating for the full show went from a solid 7-8 to a 9-10. I absolutely love Eddie's Godfather 2/Breaking Bad descent into fullblown druglord gangster. On top of that, not just the writing is great, but the cinematography is beautiful. And this show absolutely schools the rest of hollywood on how to write a strong female character with Susie Glass.

This is a great point and one I wasn't actively conscious of. Hollywood has been awful at achieving any level of believability with this.

Gentlemen and Mobland are neck and neck for me. Maybe slight, slight edge to Gentlemen. And Peaky Blinders is right there, hot on their heels.

Exactly my thoughts on Eddie.
My biggest trepidation, throughout Season 2, was how they would handle Eddie's descent into this criminal world. Up to S2, if felt like he wanted to keep one foot out of it at all times. I believe one of the biggest reasons he wanted to pass the legalization is so he could legitimize the business, much as how Michael Corleone said he would.
The writers really wrote Eddie to be a principled and strong in certain aspects that a quick descent into the dark criminal underworld could feel very ham-fisted. But with everything he went through in this season, I feel the push they made with his character to feel very believable and earned.
I am also in agreement on Susie Glass. I really like her character a lot and find her to be 100% believable.
Overall, S2 was simply top-notch writing. Nothing felt sloppy and everything felt earned. Did I see the death of the Countess coming? Sure, but that's because the writing dictated it as the best path forward for the plot and characters. I don't mind predictability when it's handled so well with the rest of the writing.

Honestly they wrote Eddie's descent to darkness so well I definitely thought he was marrying the countess as some sort of power move and my initial reaction was wondering if he blew her up or not.
