As artists, I think the opportunity to do what we do to share our craft with others often supersedes what some might called a "principled stance" on a variety of things, politics included. If I had the chance to play with the President's Own, I'd take it right now without hesitation and I'd play for Trump all day, everyday. Some of the best paying work I do as a performer is for Baptist churches who aren't super great when it comes to the gheys, but they hire me because they like how I play, I'm on time, and I'm easy to work with. I play for them because I get to play fun music and their money spends the same as anyone else's.

As for Nate Bargatze, his comedic style isn't really for me, but other people like him, and if he wanted to go to the UFC event, good for him. Some people need to get over their recreational outrage about this. Of all the things over which to criticize an artist, this one is real stupid.

One of the mentally ill hate riddled "journalists" trying to expose NB and get him cancelled/blackballed/whatev.

5/10. Cute smile, hair probably stinks though. Would bang but wouldn't brag or complain about it

I've started a GoFundMe for an app I'm building called "The Left Blue-Star Post Generator" for TexAgs."

You fire it up, and the app will fill in the blank after the words "The Left". Then it will post the result on TexAgs and you kick back and watch the blue stars come flying in!

Some early sample results for potential investors:

"The Left wanted to give Jimbo Fisher a 93-year extension."

"The Left invented a time machine to send a cyborg back to kill President Trump's mother."

"The Left is trying to cancel blueberry muffins because they are godless heathen with mental deficiencies (the left, not the muffins)."

SHould I say "numerous leftists" instead of "the left"? I never meant to imply that every single democrat wants to ruin Nate bargatze for attending a UFC fight at the white house. Just like every single one didn't laugh and celebrate Charlie Kirk's death...just a sizeable % of them.

Sure. Did you get equally pissy at the right canceling Bud Lite because they did a single spot with a trans person?

No, because, I have a well working moral compass and would never put cheering on the brutal assassination of a political opponent in the same ballpark as boycotting a mega corporation.

Nate got assassinated?

Nate got assassinated?

No, my lead-up to that "sizeable %" comment was a Charlie statement.

But I still think trying to get an individual ruined or blackballed for attending something like this is very different than boycotting a large company for showcasing a mentally deranged cross dresser like Dylan Mulvaney (he's an insult to women...a hollow caricature).

I would like to think, when concerning an individual, we would take a more "live and let live" approach. Now Questlove is lecturing Nate Bargatze and acting like he's disappointed...FOR ATTENDING A ONCE IN A LIFETIME UFC MATCH.

I realize you and I will never see eye to eye on this because you are a liberal and feel like Nate Bargatze has committed some type of "sin".

Just another stupid example of cancel culture that I naively thought society was moving past.

I get boycotts...everyone has that basic right...it's the purity test BS that I find repulsive. Like "you better think exactly like me on every single political issue, even though there are hundreds, or else you are a complete heretic and should be ruined".

I feel like this country was much more unified before the media started with the purity test nonsense, and making these cancellation pushes in public for their millions of minions to run with.

OF COURSE Nate Bargatze attending a once in a lifetime opportunity event at the White House upsets someone like this. She probably hated him and everything he stood for long before this but was just waiting for her moment to pounce. Being an apolitical straight white male and family man was enough to garnber disdain, but not enough to run with publicly...this is her moment.

She probably longs for the demise of Ryan The Temp's friend for playing in the band in between fights that night.

Am I supposed to know who this is? Or is this just a stock photo of someone you think looks left leaning? Serious question I really don't know who that person is. I am not good with names and faces.

It's the person who wrote the piece in the first article about Nate "feeling backlash" for attending the UFC fight and her two sources she uses as evidence of said backlash are two comments from random nobodies on x and threads.

So let me get this straight, the left is upset that a white, Christian, middle aged, family man, from Tennessee, who is best known for doing clean comedy attended a UFC event at the White House and may or may not support President Trump?

Nate was awesome. Derrick Stroup was one of the openers and he was awesome as well. Related pretty well to the southern crowd.

No, I copied and pasted it from there (super easy, hop on Teams and I can walk you through the process) as I stumbled upon that thread and thought it deserved a thread on the entertainment forum since he's a high profile comedian who sells out arenas.

I love how the first default response of an online leftist when triggered about a politically-motivated-cancellation thread is to try to cancel other posters for upsetting them though lol.

Yeah, he kinda MC'd the event when we saw Nate in San Antonio a few months ago. He was hilarious, so was Nate.

I thought Dusty Slay was amazing and my kids really liked Ryan Hamilton...and of course Nate was Nate.

This was their first comedy event and they were busting out laughing the entire time. Great memory for Father's Day weekend.

It looks like Dusty Slay was booked at Comedy Mothership tonight at the 9pm slot so he may have missed the 7pm Nate show. I was at the 3pm.

Nate was awesome this weekend (I saw the 7p show in Austin), and his chunk on horses was one of the better extended bits I've ever heard. His whole hour was great, as expected.

That said, this next part I say not to rip on him or spread rumors, but just because as a fan of his, I hope he's ok. I'm fairly sure he was sauced pretty heavily. For the first few minutes, he slurred his speech, had trouble remembering what he was saying, and looked completely disoriented up there. When he walked on stage, it seemed like he didn't know where he was, almost. There was no opening joke, no real greeting of the audience like you'd expect. He just kinda started rambling. Like 20 seconds in, my wife and I both leaned to each other and were like, "Is he drunk? This isn't right..." It was pretty awkward to watch. His cheeks were visibly flushed, his hair wasn't perfectly combed like it has been in every single appearance I've seen of his in recent years, he just looked and sounded... bad. I met him a couple months ago, and he was super engaging, kind, and was exactly what you hope he'd be. Saturday, for the first few minutes, he seemed like he has a problem.

Now, he snapped out of it within five minutes and from there put on a perfect show, so maybe it was nothing. I don't know. But reddit threads report similar experiences from shows all across the country over the last 8 or so months. Slurring words, seeming confused, just off his game for the first few minutes before sort of catching his groove and putting on a good set.

I just hope he's ok, because he's become such a symbol of goodness for so many people, I don't want guys like that to crash with the fame, money, and pressure. He's done so much over the last few years, I've often wondered if he's going to be able to keep it all together, because for anyone, the whirlwind he's been on would be a massive challenge full of risks.

Has merit, people reporting it all over the country

Maybe he's taking some sort of anti-anxiety med before the show and it hits hard before he evens out? No idea. Makes me think of John Mulaney joking about the difference in his delivery as a drug addict and sober.

I noticed this as well Sunday - in all of his shows he always seems to have a pretty tight set and it felt like it took a little bit to warm up. I figured I'm always watching the taped version of specials so maybe the live act has some of those little hiccups. It was also a rescheduled show so I took it as maybe he didn't prepare like he normally would.

The part about the marriage counseling made me kind of wonder if he doesn't have a lot going on in his personal life, I don't find that is something you just "do" without there being an underlying reason.

Saw him in Houston on Thursday night. I didn't notice him slurring or looking disheleved, but I did notice the beginning was a bit awkward. After the big intro and walking to the stage Nate was like, "Hey Houston! (a bit of a pause) that's all I got" and then he started into his routine.

I was kind of surprised that he didn't have more of intro off the cuff type of banter, but interpreted it as nerves and trying to lock in on his script. At the end he was appreciative and made the comment that they never imagined life becoming what it has.

I hope he hasn't developed a problem, but wife and I have noticed that, as of late, he seems to start off a bit cold and almost visibly nervous...that it takes him a few minutes to even seem comfortable out there and get into a groove. I remember thinking he almost sounded a bit inebriated at the beginning of one of his recent specials even. Like he was trying to speak through a nervously clenched jaw (I've been there).

I honestly can't imagine what it is like trying to entertain entire arenas full of people...especially 100% sober or on zero medication. He also seems naturally a little more introverted and less "fame-seeking" than a lot of other comics. Beta blockers are safe and can work wonders, but hopefully he is not dipping into too much of any other medication...or boozing.
