I have my doubts that it will live up to the original or the 1991 remake, but looking forward to Javier Bardem as Max Cady. Anyone else watching?

This looks really good. Javier Bardim looks creepy as hell.

I can't help but think back to DeNiro in this role and how in shape he got for it. Can't tell in previews if Bardim did, but the Dad is absolutely jacked and would kick his ass IRL.

Juliette Lewis from the DeNiro Cape Fear movie. Creepy daughter that falls for Cady.

I mean I know the actress was Juliette Lewis... but nothing was really revealed. Its just a new character being introduced right? Seemingly someone who knows his childhood trauma

All I had. Assume maybe she will take up a role of somebody he mind f***ed before he went to jail.

The opening scene was creepy with him having talked a woman into shooting herself in the head twice. Reminded me some of the original Cady (Mitchum) telling the story about what he did to his wife who left him while he was in jail.

I will be disappointed if this series makes Max Cady out to be a victim who is being manipulated by Ms. Lewis' character.

Started this show last week and I love it so far. Bardem is exceptional.

I'd never seen the '91 movie with Di Nero, so I watched that on Friday and thought it was great as well.

So far, I think I like the show better.

I believe Cady has killed 3 people so far, so no reason to think he'll be a victim. The guy released from prison and his old mom, and the guy with the gold watch that would not sell him the car.

I love how it tried to make everything feel so normal and this week was absolutely unhinged. Like everything is falling apart.
Bardem is one of my favorites and he plays this character so well.
This weeks episode made the slower start feel worth it.

Definitely enjoying it. Bardem is great as always, and I also enjoy how they have massively deviated from the original(s). It does have some issues, but the rest is so good I don't mind them.

Related to deviations, when Marlo Stanfield gets offed, I'm thinking it won't be by piano wire while he sips on a Jim Beam and Pepto cocktail

I just have to say, the movie scarred me and scared me so bad back in the 90s, it's one of those things that still pops up in my brain from time to time as an adult. I watched it multiple times even though I don't like stuff like that, but you know how TV was back then, you'd watch stuff even if you didn't like it because at least you were watching something. Anyway, DeNiro terrified me. I've spent me whole life being afraid of being murdered with a piano string.

As someone who never saw the movie, I am really enjoying this show. I'm going to hold off on watching the film until I finish the series.

Latest episode was wild. The acid trip and the last couple scenes were crazyyyy. I wish I could binge the rest!

This. I've enjoyed it but it is losing some steam for me. I can handle the son being a loon, I can handle the parents being dumbasses and largely unlikable. But the story with the daughter is pretty ridiculous at this point.

Just binged the first 7 episodes. I couldn't stop watching. It's so intense. Bardem is one scary individual. His daughter is pretty scary as well.

Do you think Cady raped Natalie after he drugged her? Seems like that would go with the comment he made to the parents about his seed.

I don't think he raped her. I think he's just doing a massive mind**** to make both of their kids think they are his kids instead. He gets his family while destroying theirs. Whatever hair he took off his chin for a DNA test, I think he got from Tom and was doing a slight of hand. Fwiw I do think she was banging Tom and the daughter is Tom's
