I'll save you the suspense and let you know straight away that it's not as good as the Tom Brady roast. That being said, it's highly entertaining.

Tony Hinchcliff and Jeff Ross were hilarious as expected.

Chelsea Handler was about as funny as she normally is.

The biggest surprise was Sheryl Underwood but maybe that's because my expectations were low.

There was one surprise guest that was a *true* surprise and another that was no surprise at all and not really all that funny.

I don't think Shane Gillis hit it out of the park as host but he wasn't bad.

I never knew about Kevin's "Las Vegas video" extortion attempt nor about his vegan restaurant chain until last night.

Just happened to catch it during the countdown Sunday and saw the whole thing. I thought Pete and Tony were the best but two hours of short jokes got old. We did enjoy it though.

I don't think I've ever skipped so much during a roast in my life. I thought it was ok, sometimes boring, but the usual roast guys killed it. Roast of tom Brady was way better.

I thought Foster Brooks slayed.

I like the joke where they made fun of his height.

For my "no one cares. Take it to Twitter. do you have a newsletter?" Comment: I've never understood the appeal of roasts. They are mostly cringe level at best, and half the time is spent talking about people who aren't even the target of the roast.

Some of us love cringe comedy. And yes, they target the other people on the dais for exactly the reason that several have pointed out: There's only so many funny "height jokes".

I tend to like cringe comedy, but I meant these things are cringe in a bad way, as in im cringing bc the jokes are that terrible, not that the subject matter is on the edge of acceptable. But to each their own, dont need to hijack the thread and debate roasts.

Tony's "ninja" joke knocked him down a few pegs in my book. That was something a 12 year old could have written.
He's better than that.

I get that roasts are supposed to be edgy, but the Charlie Kirk joke from Pete Davidson was pretty out of bouncds imo. I will never understand jokes about successful assassinations on someone just becauise you disagreed with them politically. Like I despise a lot of what Obama stands for, but if he were brutally assassinated, I'd cringe like a MF if Shane or Tony or anyone made it the punchline of a grotesque poorly executed joke.

The fact that it just wasn't funny, made it worse. Hatred almost always kills comedy.

I'm not a fan of roasts either, unless it's Norm Macdonald's performance in the Bob Saget roast.

Did you care about Shane making fun of Sheryl Underwood for her husband killing himself? Or was that not so bad since she doesn't align with your political beliefs?

Were there any Diddy party jokes?

If wonder how many roasts you'd have to watch to begin developing a sense of humor.

I did not see that, I did not watch the thing...but I saw the Pete Davidson clip this morning. I am against both...I don't recall roasts ever including smack talk about dead loved ones or recently assassinated public figures.

I also saw a back and forth between Chelsea Handler and Shane Gillis that just wasnt very funny. I like a good awkward roast...but this one was too awkward and cringey, based on the highlights I saw.

Apparently, Jeff Ross wanted to roast Paul McCartney. But he was turned down.

Can't blame Macca for not wanting to listen to three hours of tacky Lennon assassination, busted for pot and "Linda couldn't sing and then she died" jokes.

The Rickles roast is an absolute classic. Just a masterclass in crafting a funny scenario and getting maximum laughs without vulgarity. Today's comedians could learn a thing or two.

Not to derail, but here it is in case anyone is interested. Not the best quality clip, but it's good enough.

I miss those days. Coarse language has become so normalized now, it's really sad.
I frequently hear junior high aged kids openly using the most profane of language and discussing the most vulgar things without any concern or care. In my day, if an adult, any adult, not just your parents, heard you using foul language, you were instantly in a world of hurt.
Nowadays I'm sure calling out those kids would just result in them telling you to go eff yourself.

I love roasts. But Nikki Glazer is no queen of mean. I was shocked to learn Lisa Lampanelli is now doing mental health outreach and not doing comedy or anything in that realm.

I will say that Kevin Hart having a mic to talk into and be heard during the roast, was lame. STFU Kevin Hart.

One was a suicide. The other was a planned murder spurred out of pure hatred at an event, that was by design, encouraging free speech and civilized debate.

You're really equating the two?

That is some really intellectually lazy reasoning.

I thought it was hilarious and cringeworthy, which is the point of a roast.

So you didn't watch the roast, but felt the need to post on the thread because you don't agree with Pete Davidson politically, and felt the need to opine on the hilarity of the joke? And you also felt the need to stick in there that you "despise" Obama, which has nothing to do with a roast of Kevin Hart?

Ok

I enjoyed it for what it was. Notes:

If they edited it down to under two hours it would be much better.

Gillis, Katt, the Rock, Hinchcliffe, and Kevin were great. Some others were alright.

I didn't know who Chelsea Handler was before this roast, and I hope I never have to hear about her again.

Charlie Kirk joke was balanced out by the George Floyd joke.

Not as impactful as the Brady roast a couple of years ago, but definitely pushed the envelope.

The celebrity roasts have been like this for 20 years... if you liked the others, you'll like this one.

Everyone was pretty good, obviously writers wrote the jokes for the non comics.

Tom Brady was lame.

I thought Na'im Lynn did great.

Katt Williams was great

Lizzo was pretty great

Tony H was great(ish) that George Floyd joke wasn't needed, had nothing to do with anyone there.

Rock was pretty funny but went on too long

Sheryl Underwood was great

Shane was hit and miss but mostly good, he started out really stiff maybe once he got a few cocktails in he got better.

Pete Davidson was overall good.

Big Jay was really good.

Jeff Ross must still be feeling a bit tired, he came out very very early, probably so he wouldn't repeat the same /similar joke as someone else.

Draymond Green was funny.

I should have waited for the cut down version, was way too long.
