Galactic stoner country funk. The grooves are great and the instrumentation may be the best I've heard from the band, but I thought the lyrics don't really reach the heights of Passage du Desir, S&F, or Metamodern. Hasn't stopped from listening to it two or three times already.
I love it. I felt the lyrics were a bit out there as well. Almost as if he was writing stuff he felt / thought about that maybe wasn't right for his more mainstream music. Made me wonder if this will ever be a full release or something he keeps in this type of format.
I agree that the lyrics are pretty out there on some songs, but the band is definitely grooving. I've listened to it at least four times, and it gets better each time.
If you don't know what you're doing, do it quickly.
My favorite lyrical sequence is when he says "I'll be the banana and you'll be the split" then the background singers go "ohhhhh shiiiittttt" Hilarious!
