Just finished watching A Few Good Men to introduce my son to the "You can't handle the truth!", scene and it got me thinking how I've actually forgotten that Cruise built up his career primarily in non-action roles and how much I miss watching him in roles like this movie, and Jerry Maquire, and The Firm, and so many others.

He was so good in those non-action roles, and its obviously that same charisma that made him so good as Ethan Hunt. But I actually think he's kind of wasted doing the hanging-from-a-plane stunt scenes nowadays. Now that the MI movies are done, I really want to start seeing him back in those non-action roles more.

He was fantastic in Magnolia. It's probably more relevant today than it was in the 90s.

My favorite is the one that shows him running

Y'all wait and see. Now that mission impossible is done, we're about to get a Tom Brady Tampa Bay- esque run from Cruise. The dude just has a way of sticking around and being at a high level most of the time.

Love him in so many movies, but his performance in Vanilla Sky is maybe my favorite. Prefer his dramatic roles over his MI stuff.

Tom was killing it in the late 90s - early 00s.

I would say it's between him, Pitt and DiCaprio

On the subject of the thread, I agree that his dramatic roles are some of his best work.
God loves you so much He'll meet you where you are. He also loves you too much to allow to stay where you are.

Seems like more and more non-action dramas have migrated to the small screen, as a contributing factor. I don't think you see the types of blockbuster dramas today that Tom was in during that period. Or at least they're not promoted to the same degree as they used to be.

Tom and Gene Hackman are great in The Firm. Highly anticipated movie from the novel by Grisham when I was in high school.

He's much better than Hoffman and it was ridiculous he wasn't nominated and even more ridiculous Hoffman won.

I actually think his next move is a drama series for a streamer. There's more money there than there is for a movie. He can shoot a 10 episode season faster than it took for an MI film.

Tom Cruise is always getting older
He knows he'll never be that young again
And when Tom Cruise looks back over his shoulder
He sees a thousand younger leading men
And he knows someday he'll have to play
An old, ******ed grandpa
While someone younger plays his sexy son

I'm pretty sure that guy doesn't even take meetings if he's not getting a box office cut that yields him 9 figures on a movie.

There's a reason he refused to let Top Gun Maverick and I think Reckoning premiere anywhere but in the cinemas and both films got held back releases during the pandemic.

No way he's leaving money on the table by not focusing on streamer series.

lol, no it's not. Listen to their late 70s / early 80s albums. Kokomo isn't even in their bottom 10.

Here's where you're very wrong.

Tom Cruise likes to WORK, and try to remain relevant.

He will do that, and his answer is not gonna be film.

He's got a Top Gun 3 left, and that's it. He's not making 9 figures on anything ever again. Nor did he on MI.

Apple/Netflix are gonna be over there offering $40M for some 10 episode legal drama.

How was Collateral NOT an action movie? Riding around in a cab as a hit man, flocking people up. 2 to the chest and one to the head as one dude is falling backwards.

Above listed movies are awesome except Eyes Wide Shut and Vanilla Sky (puro basura bruh).

How long before he's a billionaire?

I know what the internet says when you google Tom Cruise Net Worth but I'd be pretty shocked if he weren't a billionaire already.

I think people underrate how rich people like him get on movies and how much equity his name has on a film. $40-50m from a streamer just isn't going to matter that much to him.

He's legit obsessed with working. Just like his exwife Nicole Kidman is.

These people don't stop. But they can't do it for 9figs anymore.

I bet Tom Cruise has given A LOT of his net worth to Scientology and charities and exes. He doesn't seem like a $$$ guy but also knows his worth when filming a blockbuster.
