Still in progress. Finished episode 9.

One of the best series I've watched in a long time.

The casting is outstanding.

While I really enjoyed this series, some discussion here led me to watch "The Gentlemen." IMO, far superior to Mobland. I'm much more anxious for its second season than Mobland's. The acting and writing is at a different level than Mobland, again IMO.

This was a really good season:
  • I enjoyed Kevin's exposition to a dead man that got us all up to speed.
  • Eddie is a savage. His mom was giving him unconditional love and his response was on par.
  • Richie took the bait and the carnage was lovely.
  • RIP Kiko.
  • Paul needs to buy better detonators.
  • Conrad and Maeve are pure filth.

For next season:
  • Seraphina is likely a double agent.
  • Officer Tattersall (Toby Jones) will have to pivot.
  • Does Eddie have any allies?

I will start "The Gentleman" next.

I watched the gentlemen bc of this thread and it was well worth it. Great show, and has some hilarious moments/characters.

Just finished episode 10 and loved it. Wasn't the lawyer surprised? She should have known better. I feel bad about Kiko, but he obviously wasn't professionally trained on the follow-up procedure and paid the price. I agree on the whole Conrad bit at the end being over the top. No resolution on Eddie at the safe house either; we didn't see him after he was pulled off his mother.

Do we know exactly who or what Kat is? Is she just a bigger player in the crime world, or perhaps working for some three-letter agency?

I don't think we know exactly what Kat is but I got the impression she was policital elite.

Can someone explain to me the whole Bella, Frenchman, her father storyline? I never fully grasped it.

Somehow I missed some info of how she was able to get revenge on her father

He father raped her since she was a child so she wanted revenge.

The frenchman arranged a meeting between an arms dealer ? (I believe) and her father, a high ranking politician, and recorded the meeting. I don't think it said what the guy asked for, but I assume just meeting with him is enough to bring him down.

Thought that was one of the better subplots. It had the viewer's attention fully for the entire season on Bella wanting to make this deal using her dad for connections to the PM in order to make some $. But, it really was a well devised scheme to exact revenge on her pathetic, perverted, pedophile, child rapist father.

Did we know about the rape prior to the finale? Did I miss that somehow?

He also has this uncanny ability to make violence hilarious (which hasnt happened much in Mobland).
He and Tarantino are GOAT's in this area. In just about every one of their films I find myself laughing out loud at sometimes horrifically violent scenes.

That's odd, as I thought the opposite.

Didn't think Bella"s character was fleshed out that well. Took me a while to figure out who the heck she was, and the plot with her dad and the arms dealer was confusing.

Thanks! Was it also revealed prior to final episode that Eddie was Conrad's son? I think I remember that it was revealed that Bella and Conrad had an affair. Guess I should've put two and two together.

It wasn't explicitly stated, but the hint was strong enough that most everyone drew that conclusion.

Little disappointed with the finale for some reason. They've obviously set it up for a Season 2. But a lot of shows that have a Season 2 still have a lot of plot points wrap up in a Season One. Sure they killed a lot of people in the season finale, but there are still a lot of things to sort out. I actually double-checked to make sure there wasn't 2 more episodes left in this season.

Still enjoyed the series and will watch further seasons. My reaction is probably in the minority.

I agree.

Seems like it asked more questions than it answered at the end.

Im in for S2 though...

Finally watched this and ended up binging the hell out of it couldn't put it down. Really entertaining and loved Hardy's character. The only complaint is Maeve and what exactly her motivations are. She seems more like the joker in that she just likes to **** with everyone with no rhyme or reason.

Quick update:

Season 2 has been filmed and is confirmed by Guy Ritchie to be dropping sometime in 2026.

There's also apparently been some on-set conflict and there are reports that Tom Hardy might not be back for s3.

Saw a story the other day that Hardy was being dropped for S3 for constantly being late and hard to work with.

Popped up on my phone's story feed about a week ago.

I guess Pierce can carry the show, but they will have to shift perspective as it seems like most times we are 3rd person to Hardy.

I hope they get him back for S3, as he and Pierce are by far the 2 best characters.

I would have zero reason to watch the show without Hardy. That's deleting the main character.

If this is true, then I'm definitely out. Hardy carries the whole show. That's really unfortunate.

That rep fits Hardy. I think Charlize Theron took some heat for getting sideways with him while shooting Fury Road, but the root of the issue was she was a pro showing up on time and ready to shoot while he was consistently late and unreliable.

Agreed on Hardy being the heart of the show, it'd be very different without him.

That said, Helen Mirren made a social post supporting him last week so I'd bet things could change between now and s3 filming (unless they've clearly written him out in s2).
