Not turned the Terminator franchise over to a bunch of morons.

I think I have mentioned this on another thread, but a period piece movie about Isaac Cline and the Galveston Storm of 1900 would be interesting. It'd be cool to see a realistic portrayal of Galveston in its prime.

A lot of the damage from that storm could have been prevented if the city used its money and resources to build up the infrastructure.

More WW II movies like Von Ryan's Express, Guns of Navarone, Where Eagles Dare, Kelly's Heroes, Heroes of Telemark, Dirty Dozen, Battle of the Bulge, Starlag 17, Patton, etc.

More Tom Clancy book movies.

More Ken Follett book movies

Kinda ruins the magic of the first movie, no?
I'm sorry. I thought we were giving our opinion on longshot scenarios that WE would like to see. I guess I should have polled the board first before I came up with MY opinion.
My opinion is that your opinion is bad

A sequel to Master and Commander

Would have been amazing but unfortunately these days the 20 gun HMS Surprise isn't a big enough boat to float Russell Crowe.

He actually dropped a lot of weight recently. I think he presented some of the awards shows and he was noticeably more trim. Unfortunately I think his age now would make any M&C sequel difficult. Unless one of the latter books (which I haven't gotten to) deals with Aubrey and Maturin as older men.

Yes, I want Red Storm Rising (probably more appropriate for a Band of Brothers style mini-series) and The Cardinal of the Kremlin.

More WWII movies is a good thing. But of course, the experts on this board will immediately jump in and say the CGI is awful (looking at responses to the recent Midway movie and I think even Masters of the Air suffered this criticism as well).

Six seasons and a movie.

Especially with the original cast.
Isn't that happening? I thought the script was done and they were filming?

I imagined he was talking Firefly.

What do you think he is talking about

This. Though six seasons of Firefly with the original cast would be awesome.

I remember hearing some things about the movie, but seem to remember it never turning into a real thing (maybe a few actors weren't on board?). But could totally be wrong. And of course, Pierce is dead...

$30 to $50 Million dollar budget Comedies start getting made again.

This is a good one. Certainly feels like a long shot to get these up and running again considering how totally f'ing butthurt people get over everything now.

I wish we had a talented director putting out 1-2 films a year, like Steven Soderbergh. Give me a yearly Fincher, Chazelle, Anderson, Mangold, etc films per year. That will be great.

Following up on $20-30 million comedies, do the same but adult dramas.

Alexander Payne needs to release one movie a year minimum.

About 20 years ago I read Ken Follett's The Man from St. Petersburg... it was so good.

Follett's The Eye of the Needle is a great movie... I know the Man from St. Petersburg would translate well to a film.

Not sure what critics say about Hot Tub Time Machine, but damn that movie kept me laughing through... I was in high school and at A&M and loved the movie's 80s music and references.

May not be 100% a comedy, but the flick Cedar Rapids was awesome.

The Eye of the Needle was great, both book and movie. I don't recall having read any other of Follet's books.

Just remembered what I was thinking when the credits rolled and the theater lights came on at the end of Dances With Wolves. Wait, that's it? But I want to see more. On that day I would have gladly sat through a 3 hour sequel, and still would.

I think it would be cool if there was a production company out there that would embrace the R-rated animated series to cover a bunch of these, similar to how they do Invincible on prime, but with animation closer to what you see in the latest spiderverse movies or Blue Eye Samurai on Netflix. Seems like AI could be big in this arena in the future.

King's books already have some pretty exceptional graphic novels that would translate well in that medium compared to live action.

Some stuff I'd love to see:

  • The Dark Tower
  • The Stand
  • The Dresden Files
  • Dungeon Crawler Carl
  • Red Rising
  • Mistborn
  • Wax and Wayne

How about warning labels on entertainment so conservatives don't get their feelings hurt by the land of make believe? Maybe even have Morgan Freeman narrate it really slow for them to understand.

Wow. So conservatives are dumbasses in your world. Got it.

I have a better idea. Keep that crap out of long-running series like 007/Star Wars/etc where people regardless of any political affiliation have invested and formed expectations about who the characters are, what they believe, what they do, etc and keep that kind of thing in movies where it's more appropriate, like Brokeback Mountain or something.

Yes. The conservatives just had to put their stamp on a timeless classic like "Snow W&^$%" .

Note: I edited the title for the lefties feelings.

I am hoping for a movie about the Chosin Reservoir.

I think modern war movie tech could make this quite a show.
