really, really liked this movie. Abou the Norwegian Resistance in WW2. 94% on RT right now. In Norwegian, but dubbed English and had no issues.

I liked it as well. I don't like watching dubbed movies, so had to go closed caption.

I usually don't either but didn't notice a big issue on this one.

Posted this on the other thread but what the hell -

Haven't seen it, but I took a small center console boat around the fjords of Norway for a couple of nights and explored several WW2 era bunkers that were carved in to the rock and I found a bunch of spent ammunition casings. I really wish I still had those somewhere. I know, cool story bro.

Looking forward to watching this one.

Wow. Taking a cruise there in May but don't think I'll have that experience! Really cool.

Saw this thread earlier this evening and just finished watching - It's fantastic! Best movie I've seen in a while. Thank you for the recommendation.

I watched lots of "Nordic noir" during the early days of the pandemic. The dubbed audio just never seemed right. I found I preferred subtitles.

The promo had me going until the female college student asked about non-violence. Against the Nazis during World War II.

I once dated a gal who told me that had the Nazis actually defeated all of Europe and Russia and somehow found a way to invade the US, that she would have preferred that we let them in rather than kill them. I told her that was insane. We didn't last, not necessarily because of that, but looking back on her, 9/11 would have definitely ended that relationship.

I don't typically like the over dub either, but it seems they are getting better with it to match the movie/show. I actually thought they did a good job on Dark as well, which I watched all three seasons with it with zero complaints.

It would be a mistake to assume that the whole film takes the position of that particular student. Without spoiling anything, I can say that it explores some of the true costs of war.

I just finished this. I will give it a solid 4/5. It is not really a war movie as much as it is an intelligence / saboteur movie. I was fascinated watching this story play out. It was a slow build interspersed with a current day Q&A session with students about the main character's war-time experiences. I spent a couple of minutes looking up information on this man after it ended, and the movie is telling a story that is at least leaning toward the truth. I am sure there are embellishments or other such things done to speed things along, but this is nevertheless a solid movie on all fronts.

I had a relationship with a gal whose family was of Norwegian ancestry. The ones who had been there 1940-45 spoke of that time as "the occupation". That spurred me to read about WWII in Norway. I knew of the Norwegian resistance but not to the extent of what this movie portrays.
