We had a laugh when the actor playing Louie had to take a breath even though he was dead. This was when everyone was in the room after be was pronounced, not the story when they were cleaning him up. You know that big boy can't hold his breath for long. I have always wondered how many retakes they have to do on shows like this due to the supposed-to-be-dead actor breathing

Inadequate prison food was this week's PSA. Go ahead and admit him where he can get 400 calories from 2 Ensures per day and some broth. That will get him back on track

I have taken care of hundreds of prisoners, I can't say I've ever seen one malnourished. In fact, most of them are in better shape than I am or fatter than I am.

I've heard that a lot of prisoners get ripped due to their endocrine system overproducing testosterone as a fight or flight response from being locked down with a bunch of violent criminals 24/7/365. So a decent amount of protein from the commissary and a lot of push-ups helps lead to the prison physique. Any thoughts?

Fight or flight response is from your sympathetic nervous system which releases adrenaline. Nothing to do with testosterone. More likely there are occasionally those that get more ripped simply due to eating less and having a more structured life that allows for consistent resistance training.

this may be my favorite doctor on the show. Just seems like a good person and doctor

I like her too. She seems to be the most real, complete person. Is a doctor that is very good, cares about her patients and work, but shows she's a real person (which I have many doctor friends and they are just like other people) struggling with child custody, recognizing how fragile are her patients emotionally and as she is herself, balances her professional life with personal (the flirting scenes were great and she was like a nervous schoolgirl).

Why is that a roll your eye moment? I see it as more of an indictment of the medical system. The guy who wants to do right is going to be buried by the debt (and he cares because he has a family and is trying to be an upstanding person) and the guy who is homeless and doesn't care is more than willing to game the system.

Seems pretty real to me?

You're right, roll your eyes was not what I meant in regards to the cost things. More the prisoner thing and being malnourished and Al-Hashimi is gaming the system to get him admitted.

Was surprised to learn she's in her mid-forties.

Really!?? She looks like she's in her mid forties. Not that that's a bad thing, but I definitely didn't take her as young. She looks "experienced"

I'm just getting old I guess. It was a compliment, I think she's cute and looks great for 45.

I mean, she's not really gaming the system. ER docs typically try to do what's best for the patient, which is why in many scenes you'll see them arguing with consultants who don't want to come to the ED, or don't want to do extra work that will interfere with their clinic or operating room schedule. She is trying to do what's best for this patient, as he clearly has something pathologic going on and is unlikely to get anything but the minimum in the prison.

The medical system is indeed broken, as is pointed out. Decent, hard working, people, that actually care about paying their debts, often are saddled with ridiculous debt or avoid going to the hospital because of being afraid of debt. Whereas many other people don't give a crap, and just won't pay, and are fully aware that doctors and hospitals can't turn them away for anything that constitutes an emergency.

Some doctors work in academic institutions, or resource rich places, where it's easy to admit anyone. Others work in community hospitals where you have to fight tooth and nail to admit uninsured patients. I wouldn't call the writers clueless.

Was an okay episode that seemed to move along and maybe set things for a good finish - and then ****ing voila - we will have a mass casualty event they have to respond to. Hello, any chance of something more oriented and original than a repeat of season one.

I was somehow completely oblivious to Santos liking girls. But I'm here for it.

How about Robby is seriously hurt in a motorcycle accident and we are left to wonder if he survives in the finale?

What happened to the prisoner - was he released or moved and I missed it or is he still there getting fed since the prison allegedly treated him so poorly.

I thought he got moved to a room. Didn't the nurse do something so he "flatlined" or similar so couldn't be released
