Dude, it literally looks like you edited my sentence to make it appear as if I was saying The Odyssey was going to be the highest grossing move of the year (hence ending on "financially" and cutting off what came after it, which changes the context completely). Especially considering what you said directly after that. If that wasn't your intention, fine, but it doesn't take having a "persecution complex" to arrive at the conclusion I did, especially given our back-and-forths.

Hey, stop bullying Backyard Cliff. He's doesn't post here a lot.

I had a hunch.

Though, they did overlap in posting here for a couple days, and Gator is a premium member while Cliff isn't. In other words, I don't know why someone would pay money for their sock.

On one hand, I want to believe Cliff was sincere, and finally had enough. Maybe he was//did.

But on the other hand, man, Gator sounds exactly like him, right down to the incessant "calm down"s and "relax"s, his stubbornness, relentlessness, know-it-all-but-doesn't attitude, etc. That and, right as one had a change of heart, the other did started posting here a ton.

Still, to go out of one's way to apologize, only to then swoop in with a sock, and pick the ****-posting/arguing right back up, would have be a level of derangement heretofore unseen, even on this crazy board.

JFC, you either need to go offline and go outside and touch grass, or you need to seek therapy. You care way too much about this movie and what people you interact with online think. You're bordering on paranoia if you think someone would create an alt account just to argue with you, especially if the account in question was created in April 2024, which is what, eight months before you created this thread?

Cliff created his account in 2022, and averages 1.4 posts a day. So in your mind, I created an account in 2022, where I posted once a day, on this forum 79% of the time. Then two years later, I created this account, paid for a premium subscription, and started posting on Billy's board 60% of the time at an average of 9 posts per day. Then after posting on this thread, I wait until page 80-something, then bring in this account, and continue to post on both accounts in this thread. Then I apologize on one account, and continue to argue with you on another account. Why tf would anyone do that? How tf is that even logical to you?

BTW, I tell you to relax and calm down because you have a tendency to be dramatic.

If you legitimately think someone created two different accounts two years apart just to argue with you on this forum, you seriously need to talk to a therapist, because it is one thing to have a victim complex, it is quite another to think people are actively plotting against you.

Yes, such a filter would be welcomed.

It's just a beating to open the app, see 20+ replies, and even the occasional Blue Direct Reply, and then realize the conversation has fully bypassed your effort posts.

Talk about needing to calm down.

Holy crap.

My post was very clearly pure speculation / talking out loud, after about 15 seconds of "research," based on someone else's suggestion. I made no definitive claims, and literally questioned the validity throughout my own post.

Good lord, dude.

Surprise, surprise.

Another hunter2012 post, another verifiable lie (see below).

What's the endgame here? Because at this point you've been doing nothing but ****-posting/spamming the thread with tweets that have been proven to be verifiable lies for, like, a week now, and nothing else. Then, when called out/proven wrong, you don't even acknowledge that they're lies... you simply post the next lie a day or so later.

I'm just curious what kind of person does that, with what motivation, and to what end? Especially now that the movie is a massive, runaway success.

Between you, some others here, and a bunch of chuds on social media, I've truly never seen anything like this. It's like this movie not only broke records, but broke some brains too.

Did you actually read through the tweet?

His point was RT changed their review system. In the past, someone would go to the movie, then logon to RT, and put in a review. There was no verification they actually went to the movie. Those were 'unverified' reviews. Now RT sends a push notification to people who have bought tickets to the movie right after the movie ends, so they get a "did you like the movie? yes/no" text as they exit. Those are 'verified' reviews.

His argument is if you go back to the previous system RT used (using only 'unverified' data), the RT score is 56%.

The silent majority is very grateful and realizes that it takes strong character and a high degree of selflessness to do what you do, even though so many of your contributions have been buried because of everyone bickering over the insignificant nuances of the film.

Read tctts's response. It shows the tweet is clickbait bull***** It's actually 92% if you include all reviews, not 56%. The tweeter is too stupid to realize that, or more likely, does realize that and is just trying to get people like you riled up with false information.

Why would you use only unverified data? That makes no sense. The old method would include everyone, the people who are now verified and the unverified. Which woods drive at 92%.

It's a pointless argument that requires you to make assumptions that you can not verify.

What makes you think that the people that sent in their yes/no vote would not have otherwise logged in to RT to enter their reviews if the push notification system didn't exist?
Backyard Gator
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I think their argument is if you came home and logged on, you had to have strong feelings about a movie, one way or the other. A simple push notification that is texted to your phone allows for an immediate reaction, so there isn't as much feeling attached to it. Because logging in requires more effort, they think it is a stronger indicator of viewer sentiment rather than simple push notifications.

Not only are these people the absolute lowest of the low, they're just really f-ing stupid too…

BREAKING: The movie studio that spent $400M on production and marketing for The Odyssey decided to go even more in the hole by spending millions on movie tickets just to make it look like they're selling more movie tickets! No one is actually seeing this movie! Despite millions of people clearly having seen it!

Well if there's anyone who's opinion I'd listen to, it's someone like Matt Walsh who has no agenda whatsoever.

(Not to mention a number of admittedly right leaning folks here have agreed that was all overblown.)

Shocker. He's been hating on this movie for weeks. You're kidding yourself if you thought his eventual reaction was going to be anything other than exactly this. Dude has an audience to serve and keep enraged.

Matt Walsh is dumber than a sack of hammers. I give his opinion the same credence as Whoopi Goldberg's.

Walsh walking into a 'white guilt' support group and people calling the police on him because his mere existence made them feel 'unsafe' is still one of the funniest things ever.

I enjoyed the movie, but Matt Walsh's takes are largely correct. I think many are overlooking that Nolan made this movie a modern message about war and PTSD instead of sticking to the story. Both takes can be true. I can like it and recognize what was done with the film.

And, I think most are missing that because very few have read the story since high school and simply don't recall the original.

FTR, I really have no idea who Matt Walsh even is since I'm not on social media. I know he's a conservative talking head and that's it.

Nolan has said he is open to doing Horror if he can get an idea like Obsession which he says works like a mother****er. Said scenes in the Odyssey has whet his appetite in the genre and wants to do more

Yes that settles it, I need to buckle up and watch Obsession. I've been avoiding it as I haven't been in a scary movie mood lately. I normally get into that genre in October/November though.

Matt Walsh has absolutely horrible taste in movies. Incredibly bad taste in movies.

That said, isn't wrong with his points on the double standard.

Just curious, but can an interpretation of the Odyssey ever make any changes to the source material? I realize you said you liked it so I'm not really critiquing you, but more the Matt Walsh's of the world.

The gnashing of teeth over the casting and emphasis in the story is just absurdly stupid. This is not a religious text. It's an oral tradition eventually written and adapted across millennia. Hell, the Romans went to town and wrote a fan fic based on the Iliad and Odyssey. The translations and obsessions over appearance that these chuds seem fixated on were products of the 19th century.

Can a person simply want the version on paper to be translated faithfully to the screen without being called a Chud, racist, etc.? And yes, there have been multiple translations but they're all generally consistent with the actions and motivations by Odysseus. I'm sorry if that offends you that someone might want a straightforward adaptation for the screen when we seem to only get a big-screen adaptation once every 30 years.

Is Nolan entitled to change the story to fit his own motivations? Sure. But the Nolan-goaltending and gnashing of teeth over some people's disappointment in Nolan's version is just absurdly stupid.
