Typical Disney fare. Interesting enough where I wasn't checking the time every 15 minutes. Not enough to watch it again.

They didnt even attempt to close the loop with the bat character, who flipped on the jump from nemesis to friendly. I know. Im dumb

It was great to take my family to the movies though, and they all loved it.

I miss that.

We took the grandkids to this on Wednesday afternoon. Was just a good ol time at the movies to them, so totally worth it!

Kids all loved it (5-9 yo). Very meh compared to the first movie.

From what I've read/heard they took what was originally going to be a tv show on Disney + and turned it into a movie on short notice due to how poorly the 2023 box office was….so these reviews line up with that especially with the music….

Agreed and really no villain

Was originally going to be a series for Disney plus but they changed course and decided to make it a full length film instead. That would explain why it doesn't measure up to the first Moana.

Yeah it was a weird segmented mess. I was like, "there's the villain….oh wait…maybe not….huh?"

Cause Maui can do anything but…sequel?

Music sucks bc Lin Manuel Miranda was not involved, probably due to it originally going to be a show, and also bc he was working on the Mufasa movie at the same time.

I'm disappointed to see this. I love Moana way more than Frozen and was excited for this.

We listened to the soundtrack in the car on the way home a few days ago. Completely forgettable music.

There were one or two new songs we liked. My 13yr old daughter mentioned the same minor critique about closing the loop. But we assume it's to open a door to a 3rd one.

It's not terrible just not as great as the first. Fun watching with the kids.

It was still a good time. My 6 year old said it was amazing. Probably not as good as the first one, but it was OK. I saw it on IMAX, so I paid a little bit more than i should have, but go see it!

On that point, there is a mid-credits scene, if you missed it.

My daughters were 5 and 8 when the first one was released and I really thought they'd really want to see it, but we are part of the crowd that is content to wait for it in Disney+.

It helps they are more into Wicked now, and also the reviews aren't overwhelming.

we just saw it tonight but left pre credits since we had to rush to pick up groceries and then get the kids to bed. Guess I'm going to have to google it!

I think the music was much worse than the first movie, but that's a high bar. I was hoping for a Jermaine Clement type character, so I was disappointed. My 13 year old didn't like it, but he's probably just mad he's had to go see wicked and this one in a 4 day span. Lol

My 10 and 11 year old girls liked it. 11 year old said the first one was better.
