Holy cow I had no idea they were releasing a new album. Thanks for posting. Halfway through and it might be their best album in over 30 years.

Never was huge on The Cure, but halfway through and this album may make me a convert. Good stuff.

Haven't made it through yet but watched the first two songs live yesterday before having to leave and it was incredible.

"Alone" is such a great song. Caught it twice live last year in Houston and Dallas and it's the epitome of a "Disintegration" style track.

ETA: Here's the live show from yesterday for the album release:

You should follow it up with "Disintegration" which is a top 10 album ever recorded imo and follow it up with "Bloodflowers" which is one of the more underrated albums ever. But I celebrate their entire catalog.

I'd also suggest "Pornography " which I think is another underrated album especially if you like the darker moodier style of Cure album.

Good point. Claude! should just watch the entire Trilogy DVD that features all three.

So I've completed the first part of my homework - I listened to Disintegration (the 2010 remastered edition on Apple Music) three or four times over the weekend. Unsurprisingly, I really really liked it. I don't think I'm breaking new ground in saying that the standouts for me were Lovesong and Lullaby, although I also really dug Prayers for Rain and The Same Deep Water as You. Musically, the band was incredible; Smith's voice fits perfectly with the album, but I did occasionally find myself wishing he'd shut up so I could just listen to the instruments.

If I have one complaint, it kind of felt like the album lost steam with the last couple of songs, and I was ready to move on by the time Untitled came on. Still gets a big thumbs up from me.

I've got Pornography and Bloodflowers on my list and will report back when I get around to them, but I need to take a little break from Robert and the boys for a bit.

If you're going to dig back into the discography the early stuff is the best all the way up to Disintegration. Special shout out to Seventeen Seconds.

"The Penguin" on HBO used an early cure jam mid-season. Perfect mood setting for that world.

The Cure is just such a unique vibe. Glad to see them still killing it.

I wish The Smiths would reform for a final tour.

A Forest was the highlight of the Dallas show for me last year and one of the only songs I can play on guitar and not butcher it. Love it.

Finally about to start this live show from Friday but listened to "Alone" 10 times again today. Good lord what a song.

This might sound superlative, but I truly believe this is the greatest song to open a show by any band ever in the history of music:

THIS WAS AMAZING!!!!!
I'm an hour in now and it is indeed amazing and kicking my ass.

How is this band dare I say better than they've ever been? New album is ridiculous.

ETA: Robert Smith is one helluva guitarist and I really didn't grasp that part of him growing up as a Cure fan until recently. Claude, welcome aboard. The Cure is one of the greatest five bands in world history. Enjoy!

By far one of the most memorable intro's not only in their catalog, but in the genre in general. Perfection.
