Re: the tunnels, those must connect all of the individual silos together. I wonder if we even learn the silo citizens were able to move around more freely in the past between silos and something caused them to all be locked down.

My guess is all of the Juliette stuff is to build suspense towards her not being able to get back until she discovers the tunnel and makes her way back to the other silo. It's certainly slower than last season, but I'm still enjoying it.

Solid thoughts

I also like the side story of the sheriff and mechanical guard finding out how corrupt the leaders are in all of this. About to find out they wanted things to get out of control so they could fight back.

I'm enjoying the season even if it is moving at a slow pace. Last season did too though. I kind of like that Juliette is in a dystopian world inside a dystopian world.

The whole Solo thing and his lies, what is he hiding and is it really that big of deal? Maybe one of the bodies outside the vault is Solo and he somehow killed him (or just got in the vault and starved them out), again does that even matter that much though, so perhaps something bigger or maybe a big nothing.

In 18, I still find the whole blame it on mechanical a bit odd. They gave a little insight into the "common-folk's" thought process about everyone thinking they keep the silo running, so killing off mechanical isn't that detrimental. However, as no suprise it is what doomed 17, and it is odd that this is the guideline in The Pact. Almost like it wants them to fail.

As far as Juliette getting back to 18, I don't really care much about that. I am curious what her plan is far as thinking she can show up and somehow save them. As others have mentioned there is also the bottom door route, but that has to be in over 1000' of water, not sure that would be practical at all.

I'm more curious about the bigger picture of the world and this season is giving little tidbits, but again at a snails pace. Solo definitly has more insights, and I wish Juliette would be more curious and ask more.

Solo screaming "I'm the IT shadow!" repeatedly amusingly boiled down to one line the drama between Sims and Bernard. It's hard to believe it's happenstance, but it seems like it's too on the nose for a possible cautionary tale.

Hmm, I didn't think about that. I just have a hard time picturing Steve Zahn as a Sims type. Also, it seemed like "Solo" let it slip that he was a kid when it happened when they were in the classroom.

It is like there a lot of parallels but slightly different, almost like the silo's represent parallel universes.

You would think that when all this first went down that there wouldn't be the need for all this strictness and there wouldn't be a reason they couldn't network between silos.

Juliet has a stomach bug or something worse taking place.
Her arm is infected. I don't remember her injuring it though as it has taken like a month to cover 2 days.

I was curious too and a couple of articles suggested the initial injury happened in the last episode of season one when she fled/fell down a garbage chute. Another article said it was when she was breaking into Silo 17.

I suspect the latter in this season's first episode was just to remind us of her injury last season since it was going to be important, not that I really recall it. Kind of a fail on the reminder too.

I half thought Solo was poisoning her.

Oh, that is a neat point.

There's no way with the materials and knowledge she has to construct a makeshift suit that could withstand the pressure of water at 100' depth, let alone 1000'. (How would she even know, though? The concept of water that deep is surely forgotten in the silo.) My plan would be to get to the cafeteria window and write "NOT SAFE" in the dirt on it. She would definitely be seen by someone. Her thinking probably is just that her disappearance will cause people to think it's safe outside. She may not know anything about the procedure Bernard is following.

They mentioned a water pump in this episode. That will come into play and may expose the tunnel for her.

It looks like Juliette has sepsis from her infected cut. I don't even remember her cutting her arm, maybe when she was breaking into the lockers, but swimming around in that water with an open wound unsurprisingly resulted in a pretty bad infection.

Also, have we established how long Solo has been living alone? I was a little confused about the paperwork and picture Juliette found. Solo has a lot of childlike qualities but I can't tell if it's some sort of arrested development (i.e. everyone died and he was left alone as a kid and never matured) or if it's just mental illness from living in isolation for so long or both.

Faustus mentioned above it happened last season, I don't remember either but it makes sense as it should take more than a couple of days to get that bad. Although, it seems a bit odd for the writers to bring that in to play all of a sudden. I think there were a couple quick shots of it this season, but kind of came out of nowhere.

All we know is that silo has been dead for atleast 25 years. We can't even say for certain that Solo was part of that silo, I'm guessing he was, but a lot of hidden information regarding his past. All we have to go on are his lies. He's a wildcard for sure, I'm not sure if he is a victim of villan.

I did too. I wonder if that is why the writers seemingly brought it out of nowhere as to continue to plant seeds of doubt about Solo. I mean, they answered the question rather quickly but even just letting our minds go there for a couple of minutes to further question Solo.

I always thought it was weird that they wanted to make the first book two seasons. It should have been one season of about thirteen episodes. There just isn't quite enough substance to make it this many episodes.

There is a medium level character they are missing that really helps drive the questions towards who/what/when/where/why if the silos. If they ax that character then it will leave a void in the story that needs to be filled. The second book is where we really get the lore.

The first 2 episodes were pretty great - I was excited about the new silo and the initial aftermath following J walking - but I feel like it's hit a lull. We're in this purgatory. I'm having a hard time with the timeframe - as it feels things are moving slowly, but this is all happening within 2-3 days of her walking out. That's been throwing me for a loop. We still got 5 more episodes of this season - think they might bump it into overdrive this last half.

I can't for the life of me remember the Mayor showing up in S1. It's been a while

Good news. It's an interesting show, even if the pacing has slowed down a lot. But I do wonder if the showrunners will have enough time to give the 2nd and 3rd books the same coverage the 1st book has apparently received. It would be a shame if they have to speed the pace up too much (like we saw with GoT and HBO.)

I seem to remember the special tape that was holding the gloves to the suit failed or came off as she was going into the new Silo, causing some of the poisonous air to leak in and cause a chemical burn of sorts.

I could be completely mis-remembering this.....

I don't think there is any need to make books two and three more than a season each. Honestly, three 10ish episode seasons would have been best for the whole series.

I think this was already planned. I thought TCTTS posted about 3 & 4 being shot together and it being the final before this season started, which would cause season 3 to possibly not air until 2026. I take it this is just them green-lighting that.

Exactly. Ferguson had mentioned this plan as a possibility in a couple interviews and now Apple made it official.

I did a quick search online and there was someone playing a clip of the tape coming off as she entered 17 using it as a possible explanation, however the tape was coming off the right arm and it is her left arm that is infected. So, I did a quick rewatch of the trash-chute scene and they don't show her getting cut but show her waking up from the fall and her left forearm getting wrapped. Seems odd the way they hid this and make it a plot-point later, but maybe the uncertainty will come in to play with Solo or something.

She was grimmicing hitting the lockers, but I think it was from this injury that we didn't really know about.

To the people complaining about how long it is taking her to build her suit, how long would you expect it to take? It would actually take infinity years if she couldn't find a helmet. Seems to me, that it's only been a couple days and she just now found it.

Meanwhile, the plot on the main silo is moving forward. They are heading towards a revolt and they as showing us how. It would be LAME if they sped this up by having her go (refuse to) clean, and then a day later the entire silo revolts. I would be asking, "so she doesn't wipe a camera and now the silo revolts? That is stupid!" Now that we are watching it develop, it actually makes sense.

Meanwhile, it's a race between her and them. She's racing to save the silo and they are racing to (unknowingly) destroy it. I find it an interesting watch.

Not everything needs to be explosions and karate.

And if you show that race over the course of 4-5 episodes are not still entertained? I mean it's realistic, especially if it could take until "infinity".

If only Michael Bay directed an episode or two, then F13 would be satisfied.
Faustus
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Or maybe just don't show us half a story line involving a suit being made for 5 and counting episodes, even if they could plausibly show it for "infinity" years.

Arguably some of their audience, as unreasonably impatient as it may seem, might find it just a bit ponderous.

Not looking for a "Fast & Furious" but it's been like watching paint dry after last season. Not engaging at all.
