One of the best shows of last year returns next month.

Yikes, that may be true but, with how far the show fell off from the first few episodes, it is pretty sad that there wasn't much to come out last year that was better.

I don't remember much from season 1 but, iirc, there was a ton of contrived drama to advance the plot (nonsensical), really bad cgi at points and really bad acting from multiple leads. Particularly in the latter half of the season.

I disagree with about 90% of this, as you're probably the only person I've seen express most of these opinions, but to each their own. Was it flawless? Not by a long shot. That said, season one is currently 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, and I'd say most posters here seemed to love it, to the point of being stoked for season two, more so than for a new season of most shows I can remember.
I actually agree with Marsh on this one. This one just didn't land for me. It started strong and then waned. Maybe that was situational and I was being too critical, but I wasn't excited at all when the second season dropped. That said, I'll probably still give it a go while we do our week long trek across the Minnesota tundra next week.
Life's an endless party, not a punch card.

Imo they could have combined episodes 1 and 2 into a single episode with scenes from what Jules is doing and what's simultaneously happening at the silo. Both felt like filler mid season type episodes and not season premiers.

I thought it was a good episode, maybe a bit on the short side but it moved the story along and gave us a peek behind the curtain.

Episode 3 drops this Wednesday (presumably because of Thanksgiving).

Looks like it apparently drops tomorrow. Maybe it's officially Wednesday, but tomorrow at 9 Eastern?

Yeah probably similar to how Apple does the rest of their shows. They say they release on Friday, but actually come out Thursday night around 8 CST.

I still have too many questions / little direction to make assumptions. Like, the outside seems pretty fake. It has a weird hue to it or something. Also, the video the wife saw of the outside had birds fly across as he (video guy) started to go outside in much the same way they were flying when the sheriff went outside.

Curious what she is going to do when she goes back. I'm not sure if they would let her back in or not. Maybe just write "stay" or something on the camera lens?

So 50 silos with roughly 10,000 people per silo would be less than one-percent of the U.S. population (not saying the silos are in the U.S.) which makes me wonder how the silos were initially populated, I'm guessing it wasn't random chance but some type of formula/selection process to strike the right balance of skill/expertise for optimal likelihood of long term survival.

I would assume there are more pods next to other cities.

I guess the original rebellion was at a time they were free to move between them (they have the same "Rebellion" play) and after that everything changed and is probably when "The Order" got written.

So hermit Steve Zahn hasn't seen another person for who knows how long. He hears someone outside, takes a look and sees Rebecca Ferguson and is hesitant to open the vault? Even in the apocalypse as a mechanic she's still gorgeous and he doesn't want to open up? If there was a time to shoot your shot…

So are we totally convinced there is no life on the outside? I still think she hasnt explored enough… granted only 3 episodes in this season

So her dad removing the device so the lady can have a baby. Was that him starting to also rebel?
Faustus

He started to rebel when he aided his daughter last season. This was him extending it to unrelated folk who are supposed to be under his care and are amusingly sensitive to his plight for motive purposes.

Bernard's shadow and would be shadow are throwing off some pretty rebellious vibes too with regard to that triangle.

How does the other silo have power if mechanical and its turbine are flooded?

Not a book reader, so this is a guess. If the Founders anticipated the conditions that would lead to a Rebellion as well as the certainty that Mechanical would lead it, then it's likely that they anticipated the need for a second, independent power source for the higher levels.

I hate to say it, but four episodes in and season two just isn't on the same level as season one so far.

It feels like there's next to no mystery or intrigue, underlined by the fact that we're often two steps ahead of the characters, already in the know about what they're just now learning. Whereas, in season one, it felt like we were almost always learning about events/conspiracies through their eyes, with them in real time.

That, and for some reason the editing is consistently so weird, choppy, and abrupt now.

Overall, it's like the B team took over creative duties.

Don't get me wrong, none of it is outright bad, and I'm still in for the long haul, I just really hope it finds its footing again soon.

I am not fully caught up, but knowing the mystery of the air outside being toxic I'm not even sure where this whole story is supposed to go in a satisfactory manner.

Does she just go back to her Silo and the world continues on that way for hundreds more years? Find ways to other silos? Develop better suits to explore more? Feel like there should be some glimmer of mystery or hope for the viewer to hold onto but maybe just hasn't been introduced yet.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Exactly. Very well put. In season one we weren't 100% certain if the air outside was toxic, we wondered if the powers-that-be were lying, etc. It was such a good mystery. But now that we know for certain the air is toxic, narratively speaking, some other glimmer of mystery/hope should have been substituted in its place. Because right now I could not care less about Juliet getting back to her silo - the one she literally just left - even if it means saving all those people. It feels like a giant step backward when all I want, personally, is to be moving forward.

Agree with everyone's sentiments. Not sure what intrigue can be added to this show now. It's just people surviving in the silos and overcoming the typical issues in that environment with no hope.

I don't think this is specific at all and isn't a spoiler, but I'll put it behind tags anyway

in the books there is a separate storyline that drives a lot of the intrigue and mystery before everything comes together. They haven't shown any of that, barely hinted at it when Solo tells Juliette there are 50 silos.

Hope they bring something new to the show bc I was thinking how much better fall out is bc they have so many directions they can go. I understand the preface is different but very similar areas as far as multiple underground living quarters due to apocalyptic occurrences.

I thought the first season was excellent and prompted me to read the series, which I enjoyed. This season just sucks. Not just compared to the books either, but compared to the first season.

Between the first episode being impossible to see, and then it's just slow. This is a show I watch with my teen and we still like it but damn , we are bored.

As previously stated, there is a plot line they haven't introduced yet. They really should have by now, so I hope they aren't changing it.
Faustus
How long do you want to ignore this user?
5 episodes in and Juliette is still making a suit, and we haven't learned anything of note about Solo apart from the fact that a crazed loner isn't entirely trustworthy.

The other main plotline has leaned in heavily on Common's Sims and his Lady Macbeth.

I'm certainly going to stick with it, but the show isn't doing itself any favors.

I agree. This season has been slow and not very exciting. But it seems like they are building up for a rebellion and a very intense story line for the back half of this season

Not a book reader, but in defense (a little bit, anyway) of the writing, the show has two separate storylines in two different locations going on at the same time. A lot more is happening in Juliette's old silo while Juliette and Solo aren't doing much other than eating, talking, looking for parts, yelling, and bleeding. Hence the occasional check-ins on Juliette while all the real action is taking place at the same time in the other silo.

I'm worried this is turning into Lost where it plods along and we just get more questions.

All that's left now is for people to say it was never about the silo and more about mechanical being a family.

Not a spoiler at all, but people are touchy and I don't want to piss anyone off.

There's a 3rd storyline in the book about how and why the silos were built. I'm not sure how they are going to move things forward without introducing it at some point soon. Whether that's through Bernard/solo, or some other way.

It's not entirely relevant to, or known by, the main characters, but it plays a big part in the whole story so I hope they don't leave it out.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Yeah, this is exactly the kind of thing this season is desperately missing.

The lore/mystery.

For both the audience and for the characters to covertly investigate/discover.

Otherwise, I thought the main silo plot line was a little better/more propulsive this week, but maaaaan the Juliette/Solo stuff continues to absolutely suck so far.

Building on what I said last week, not only does Juliette's goal feel backwards and reductive (getting back to the silo she just left), outside of the admittedly fun cat-and-mouse element with the framed "killers" in the main silo, their goal also was to just... get back to where they had literally just came from (the lower levels).

In other words, nothing at all in this show feels like it's moving forward.

Everyone's just running around in circles, often quite literally, up and down stairs.

Juliet has a stomach bug or something worse taking place.

New Judge wife trying to set up her hubby to be the top one in charge.

The new stuff with the maps showing all the mystery tunnels is the only thing of intrigue in this episode.

Where do those tunnels go?????
