When you say "underrated", what exactly do you mean? There isn't a single person in the rock or metal world who hasn't heard of or even heard Chester. You almost can't watch a youtube video without someone in the comments mentioning him. And vocally, he was decent, but nothing special. His greatest ability was to sing decently well clean while also being able to "scream" coherently, on pitch, and with the same inflections of his singing voice. But in the rock world, I wouldn't say he's underrated. Because that would imply that he was better than what he's given credit for. And vocally, I just don't agree. He was good for what he was and was an integral part of a band that many loved.

If by underrated we consider someone not really talked about so much anymore, then I'll go another vocalist that died too young, and happened to be the singer Cornell idolized, and that's Jeff Buckley. He seems to be only known these days for starting the 'Hallelujah' cover craze, but good lord that dude could sing. Incredible songwriter as well. If you love rock music from the 90s but haven't given his only real album 'Grace' a listen, you are missing out.

Brad Delp from Boston. His voice was a huge part of the band's iconic sound, with an incredible range that could soar through those classic rock anthems. Death, you did this!
The other challenge with Boston Tribute is that Delp recorded his own backup vocals so he basically harmonized with himself. Impossible to do that live of course.

Jack Russell of Great White.

Saw him perform a Legacy Hall in Plano about 18 mo. ago... had health issues, but he still brought it like the 80s.

Fun Claude! fact: I can't listen to that song without my chest getting tight and experiencing anxiety. Reason: I listened to that song on my drive to take the bar exam the first time.
