I've never heard of Joy Division before your post.

Currently fascinated with them. Looks like they didn't last long as Joy Division after a members death.

This is great music!

When Ian Curtis died, they transitioned over to New Order. The music is not at all similar to Joy Division, but I love both bands equally. All of the same members, Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook and Stephen Morris all stayed together and formed New Order.

Check out the album Movement by Joy Division. It's a really cool mix of sounds that sound one part JD and the other part NO.

Ian Curtis had one of the most distinct voices I've ever heard. Listen to the song Ceremony. Originally released as a JD song, but now pretty much associated with New Order. It's one of my favorites. Further, the song "No Love Lost" is also early Joy Division when they played under the handle Warsaw. Awesome track.

I'll toss in some "modern rock" bands that most of Texags seems to have no interest in:

Eclipse: Paradigm
Dorothy: Gifts from the Holy Ghost
The Pretty Reckless: Death by Rock n Roll
Dirty Honey- Dirty Honey
Great van Fleet- From the Fires
The Struts- Everybody Wants
Crazy Lixx- Street Lethal

Of course as a kid of the 70s I love tons of old school rock as well but I find it depressing how ignored modern rock is by Gen X.

Yeah I really don't get the hate. Not a big shocker that a new band sounds like an extremely influential classic rock band.

There newer stuff is a bit more proggy and groovy which I like a'right as well.

How do people complain about Greta Van Fleet then also complain that rock n roll sucks now.

I can't believe this slipped my mind. I bought that CD just before my summer trip to visit family in the UK. For three weeks I listened to that thing non stop as it was one of the few CDs I have. Mine had the sepia toned cover which I later learned meant it was an original release. After the first 500K they switched to the red cover.

It's not just that you can or do listen to the entire album - but also that you consider it to be perfect.

Maybe you do. I don't have that many that I would listen to all the way through pat the first listen maybe.

I guess if I didn't think an album was perfect, then I would skip a track.

I've never liked every song on an album, but then been like, you know this album would be better if it had more songs on it?

If I like every song, then in my mind, the artist made a perfect album. No filler.

Some new(er) releases I would add:

Made by These Moments - The Red Clay Strays
A Cat in the Rain - Turnpike Troubadours
F-1 Trillion - Post Malone (This definitively might not be the popular opinion and some might vehemently disagree, but I think it's a fun listen all the way through)

I also like a wide variety of music, possibly more than most.

In my list is plenty of metal most people have never heard of along with mainstream metal/hard rock, then stuff like elliott smith, ray lamontage, blue october, coldplay, muse, plenty of the grunge and early 90s rock, etc.

And also devin townsend. He has 10 albums alone on my list, but that is out of 30+ albums, so it's not like I think everything he touches is gold.

Joy Division was what New Order started out before Ian Curtis's death. Otherwise its still Peter Hook, Bernard Sumner, and Stephen Morris.

They are arguably the biggest WTF snub for the Rock N Roll HOF. They influenced 2 different decades of music late 70's/80's & then just about every big band that sprang up in the '00's were heavily influenced. The remaining members became one of the biggest bands of the 80's. If the Sex Pistols & NWA are in due to influence, Joy Division should be as well.

Loving the New Order talk on here. One of my favourite bands ever.

Lots of albums I'd pick that have already been mentioned

The Bends, Colour and the Shape and The Blue Album off the top of my head.

Black Sunday by Cypress Hill ought to have at least a mention on here.
