Consider myself very lucky to have met him in Irvine in 2007.KidDoc said:I don't have many regrets in my 51 years, but not seeing Dio live is one of them.Roll the Bones said:
This is awesome. Full Rainbow concert from 1977. Ronnie James Dio was in his prime and sounds so good.
I'm also a Streetfighter, 10 classes older than you and I was also at that Megadeth show with Coal Chamber in 1998.Streetfighter 02 said:
I saw Megadeth at the International Ballroom in 1998. The web says Coal Chamber was the opener. Not sure if that building is still even standing. It was a huge piece of crap shopping center/warehouse. I saw Marilyn Manson in this same venue in 1997.
All this just proves that I'm getting old and my parents were pretty lenient.
I have seen DT once. Gigan Tour in 2004.TriumphForks said:
Was not expecting to see Vola mentioned when I came here. Big fan of the newer wave of "prog metal". Dream Theater announced their US tour last week. Bought tickets for it. Can't wait.

This was before I knew that all the drummers know all the other drummers (RIP - James Kottak).
I see a White Lexus parked out front with a personalized license plate that says - "MOBRULZ"
I thought. That's funny. This guy must be a Sabbath fan.
Turns out it was Vinny Appice's car.
Friend and I went to a studio (house) in Lakewood, WA (Gravelly Lake Drive) to get some grass... mid-90s. Walk in the front door... navigating to the back... passing some band sitting around. Scored... leaving, walked past the "band" (didn't know who they were) with a wave, "Hey, guys".HollywoodBQ said:I helped drink all of Queensryche's beer backstage at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Irvine, CA in 2007Aggie Therapist said:
Met Megadeth a couple years ago in Austin. Went to a queensryche concert in 2003. Saw Metallica last August. They still got it!
Serious question, I've seen Megadeth a bunch of times with the most recent being in 2015 at Hordern Pavilion, Sydney, Australia. Dave's voice was gone then. If you've seen Megadeth more recently, has his voice improved or are his singing days pretty much over?
I think that song was written in the late 80s. It was on the Ford Fairlane soundtrack that was circa 89/90JamesPShelley said:Friend and I went to a studio (house) in Lakewood, WA (Gravelly Lake Drive) to get some grass... mid-90s. A few weeks later on the radio I heard the song they were listening to. "Last Time in Paris".
Right! I never had heard that song (late entrant into the Queensryche catalog). When I heard it on the radio I was like, "Queensryche? No ****". Never figured out why they were listening to a many-years-old track of themselves.StinkyPinky said:I think that song was written in the late 80s. Never thought I'd see Blood Incantation pop up on TA. Not truly my speed from what I've heard, just give me the Morbid Angel, but huge respect for them anyways.
Nice to see some of the more obscure metal round these parts and not just the usual.
both are on tour... go support them!Hub `93 said:

That is a cool story. Always I've been a Vinny fan. Took my wife to a Michael Schenker concert around a decade ago... Carmen was on drums.
I think it was around 20 years ago Vinny and I were corresponding via email (I used to author concert reviews for a vintagerock website. We connected.) Had (paid) him to autograph to myy twin boys a drumhead. "Chris and Chase, Stand up and Shout".
Chris went on to sign a 7-figure deal with RoadRunner Records. It was a wild run. Thanks for inspiring a memory.
