Loved it. Found it entertaining mostly all the way through. A worthy sequel.

This was my pre-Aggie football appetizer this morning and I really enjoyed it. The climactic scene might have been a little over the top, but I could say the same about the wedding scene in the first one.

From a pacing perspective, it flew by. You could have convinced me there was another 30-45 minutes and suddenly I realized everything was converging for the finale.

We both loved it last night. The song portion drug a little bit but we felt like it pulled itself back together at the end. Overall a worthy sequel and a lot of fun. Definitely worth seeing at the theater.

This was a lot of fun for the family.

The Monica Bellucci subplot could have been dropped entirely and the movie would probably have been a little better.

The song choice of McArthur Park was so weird and confusing, but it's Tim Burton.

I shamefully have to admit I had no idea that was a song other than Weird Al's Jjurassic Park.....

Fun movie all around though and a great throwback to the days of practical effects

Couldn't agree more on both of those points.

And I feel the same about Dafoe's character. Though admittedly I did laugh that every time he showed up on screen his assistant handed him a coffee.

They could have kept Dafoe I think and just had him and his dead cop team chasing down Beetlejuice for breaking the law regarding bringing live people into the afterlife, sort of a dead version of TLJ from The Fugitive.

As a matter of fact, I'd have liked to have seen the daughter get abducted into the afterlife sooner in the movie and have spent more time with Beetlejuice and Lydia together chasing the daughter and the boyfriend, while being chased by Dafoe and his people.

One thing I loved was Catherine O'Hara. She was hilarious.

Agree, O'Hara was by far the best part of the movie imo.

My theater laughed at almost everything she did and said.

I feel like we were robbed of an ass shot of Dafoe's assistant. Beetlejuice definitely got a look as she walked away during the office scene, so not really sure what happened other than things being toned down from the original.

Also, to show no part is too small, shout out to Devito

Glad to hear Moira Rose landed a solid role after her Crow movie.

I thought it started off slow but it picked up its stride and was a lot of fun. I also like how they managed to have the pederass in the movie without actually having him in the movie.

Man, that was awesome. I know reviews complained a bit about the numerous storylines, but I thought it gave the story an awesome feel. One of those movies where everyone knows their role. Willem Dafoe was hysterical.

Like the original, it starts off veeeeery slow, but the payoff is so much better than the original. The church scene is destined to be a classic.

So when does

Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice
Beetlejuice

Come out? I saw one article stating he's "shut the door" on it but I'm not buying it. It's too good and made too much money

Just watched it. It was enjoyable. I don't think it was better than the original but certainly worth seeing. Definitely darker than the original. Delores' reassembly was a little gross and the wedding scene was a little looooooong. It did do justice to the original though.

One of my few truly happy memories of my mom was her surprising me and taking me to see the original in theaters when I was 8. Just the two of us. So the original has always been a favorite of mine.

So when I heard about the sequel, I was excited, but had no expectations that it'd actually be any good.

But I LOVED it. I thought it was great. Catherine O'Hara stole the show. At times it felt like Moira Rose was Lydia's stepmom.

I liked it....I like the ghost boy story. He could have been the big bad instead of the ex-wife who never really got fleshed out. However, we got some good laughs. My 12 year old daughter, who is obsessed with Beetlejuice, loved it.

Highly recommend! The family (wife, 13 yo boy, and 10 yo boy) all loved it. As a movie it was better than the original...in that it was done on a much larger scale with more visuals and just more grand. The original had the better more creative story...but this was a worth follow up, for sure.

The 'ex-wife' story line did seem a little forced, but what it did manage to do...was give Beetlejuice a background, which I always felt was missing from the first movie.

Movie was a ton of fun. The original is such a classic and one of my all time favorites. Really didn't have a lot of faith in Tim Burton doing a sequel so far removed from the original, but he nailed it. Michael Keaton is such a legend.

Enjoyed this. Saw it last night. Just a fun, random and non serious film that hits on themes I appreciate. Specifically it focused on the importance of family and those connections, which I liked and appreciated. Also liked that the weaselly male feminist was ultimately outed as having impure motivations.

Finally got around to seeing it last weekend and loved it. Keaton absolutely kills it, made it look effortless.

Catherine O'Hara was hilarious. She took her character to the next level and added a lot of personality to the film.

I'll echo what someone else said about Weird Al's 'Jurassic Park' - that's exactly what I thought of and had never heard the original song. That whole sequence was fantastic. Lydia's facial expressions were perfect.

All of musical sequences had me ROLLING...better than the ones in the first which were still great. When Beetlejuice grabs the guitar I completely lost it..that was incredibly well done.

I also like the angle they took with Lydia using her image to host a fake ghost show...reminded me of Venkman's fake psychic show in Ghostbusters II.

Perfectly fine for kids.

In fact, another one of my complaints is that the Beetlejuice character felt a lot tamer this time around. Pretty much no cursing or any sexual innuendos at all.
Not true. Beetlejuice telling the kid when stamping his passport "You're Sheet out of luck, bye F'cker " will be repeated by kids I'm sure over and over. My wife is a school teacher and wanted to see this because all her 3rd and 4th graders were talkin about it. Watching it I felt terrible those kids watched this crap. That baby beetlejuice was gross, both scenes.

I thought this movie sucked and I loved the first one.

A single line with one f-bomb? Your kids will be fine.

But yeah baby Beetlejuice was dumb.

This movie sucked. Michael Keaton single-handedly saved this movie but there's not a lot worth saving. Lydia's daughter wasn't too bad, a little cringey angst but that hardly stands out against the other flaws.

Winona Rider felt like she was playing Will Byer's high-strung mom on Stranger Things still. Justin Theroux was forgetful as the sequel's successor to Otho. Katherine Harris was trying way too hard, like she was playing a caricature of Delia instead of Delia.

Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci couldn't decide what they wanted to be. Super weird overly long church song sequence.

The treehouse guy and dad storylines were better suited for a Beetlejuice tv series than a movie.

Maybe if Jeffrey Jones wasn't a pedo and was in the movie, it wouldn't have suffered from a top-heavy female cast.

No idea who Katherine Harris is, but Catherine O'Hara is easily the best part of this movie.

A pretty deep dive but maybe he's referring to the former Florida Secretary of State that had a prominent role in the 2000 presidential election controversy. Was she in this movie?
