A ton of suave and has a bit of an insane side to him. He's less the physical, brooding Bond that Craig was and more of the traditional Bond. From his work, part Moore and part Brosnan. I could definitely see them reinserting the humor aspect with his delivery, and going back the classic Bond style. He definitely has an IDGAF attitude that would be a bit new to the Bond genre should they incorporate it.

Sam Mendes and Martin Campbell are the only directors to give us truly great Bond movies, IMO.

As for who I'd like directing the next one, I honestly have no idea. While I think Nolan would be the best for the franchise, I don't want him wasting his time/talents on the franchise, seeing as he's basically already given us his Bond movies, in the form of Inception and Tenet.

Otherwise, I think I'd like to see a fresh, energetic voice at the helm as opposed to a big-name veteran.

I just think he's made a bunch of slop during the second half of his career. That, and I don't want a weird/zany/over-the-top Bond, but maybe that's the way pendulum is swinging after the ultra-serious Craig movies.

Haven't bothered with Argyle, but I was pleasantly surprised by The King's Man.

Mendes directing Skyfall was truly great (having GOAT Roger Deakins may have been a huge reason for that too). Spectre on the other hand was a mess. Not sure how much that falls in Mendes or mingling by Broccoli and Wilson.

Matthew Vaughan would be a a great pick to direct the next installment, but my personal pick would be Gareth Evans. The action scenes would be unrivaled in the Bond universe with him at the helm

How about David Leitch?

The fight scene in Atomic Blonde is one of the best I've ever seen.

I wouldn't mind some more campiness in the next installments. Kind of like how Bond rode a cello case in the snow in the Living Daylights.

But, it's a very fine line between campy and just plain cringey and bad.

I feel like Vaughan, and probably others, would take the shots and action "too far" and make it basically superhero-lite. (More so than it already gets to, I mean).

When I hear campiness, I automatically think of Moore's 007 movies. The only one that I don't recall having campiness is For Your Eyes Only.

I love For Your Eyes Only. And good point, I can't think of campiness in that one off the top of my head. The pistachio guy does add a funny bit to the movie though.with his antics.

Lol, I wouldn't say it's the "worst take ever." I realize I have a softer spot for the campy Bond stuff and that it is definitely not the consensus. It's probably driven partially by my age. I wasn't around when a lot of them came out, so I watched them years later as a kid or teen growing up.

I was mainly saying I'd be okay with some lightheartedness in the new movies. I don't want over the top though, in either comedy/campiness or the "over the top" action that resembles a Marvel movie more than a Bond one.

Comedic & fun movies are the dying genre, not dark, brutal movies... see Wick, Batman, Jason Statham movies, Liam Neeson movies, Iron Claw, Oppenheimer, Godzile Minus One, Sisu... it's all over the place.
Movies like "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" are the exception these days, and very refreshing when done will.

That said, I like my Bond to lean serious vs. slapstick, though showing him with a little humor would be nice & give him a little depth. (Not surfing giant arctic waves type camp)
