To each his own, but I guess I'm in the minority that thought this was so-so. I understand it's supposed to be a turn-your-brain-off summer action flick, and it was entertaining, but that doesn't mean the writing has to be terrible.
The dialogue was so cheesy at times that even in serious situations my wife was next to me laughing. The premise of any disaster movie has to be a little far-fetched but the plot of Twisters seemed ridiculous to the point of being distracting. Visually it was beautiful and fun to watch in a theater.
It's probably unfair to compare it to the 90s version, which had a loaded cast and great chemistry between characters. Also the whole idea of being surprised by a massive tornado with little to no warning was kind of believable in 1996, not so much in 2024.
I understand why some people love it. I'm probably overthinking it, but I didn't think it was great.
