Thought it was hot garbage. Nothing exciting or fresh. Characters check all boxes. Knew there was no way in hell they were going to make the Puerto Rican a villain. It's just a laughable mess.
cool

Their most used emoji is the thumbs down so I don't think they like many things.

As the saying goes, nobody calls in to say you're doing a good job.

To each his own, but I guess I'm in the minority that thought this was so-so. I understand it's supposed to be a turn-your-brain-off summer action flick, and it was entertaining, but that doesn't mean the writing has to be terrible.

The dialogue was so cheesy at times that even in serious situations my wife was next to me laughing. The premise of any disaster movie has to be a little far-fetched but the plot of Twisters seemed ridiculous to the point of being distracting. Visually it was beautiful and fun to watch in a theater.

It's probably unfair to compare it to the 90s version, which had a loaded cast and great chemistry between characters. Also the whole idea of being surprised by a massive tornado with little to no warning was kind of believable in 1996, not so much in 2024.

I understand why some people love it. I'm probably overthinking it, but I didn't think it was great.

I know people don't really like when they throw in "connections" to the original movie. But seems like they were all the right age for at least one of them to be the offspring of Helen Hunt/Bill Paxton from the first movie. Maybe it would've had me more emotionally invested in them. But I just didn't feel this movie like I did the first one.

I'm not asking for a cameo, but some tie of the old guard to the new guard.

I dunno. You can't make them the kids without having Hunt appear in the film, and Chung has said he wanted this one to stand on its own. I thought the Dorothy V was a great nod. Selfishly, I'd have loved to have seen them blaring the soundtrack to Oklahoma! or give a reference to "the suck zone" or even Paxton's legendary "It's already here" line.

Finally got around to seeing it last week and really enjoyed it.

I like the way they peeled back the layers of Glenn Powell's character and his 'cowboy' team. While the original spent more time developing the characters of Bill and Jo's team, this one spent more time going deeper with the characters of the three leads...IMO.

The original is still my favorite, and I think did a better job of making you feel the awe and terror of being chased by a tornado (like the original Jurassic Park with dinosaurs). But I think this one did a better job of focusing on the terror of the 'suck zone' within a tornado. The town disaster scenes were incredible.

You're not going to recreate the magic of the original, just like the first Jurassic World couldn't recreate the magic of the original Jurassic Park after those years...but it stood out on its own and made it a fun ride.

It's like movies about racing...there's something fun about it even if there are flaws in the plot. There's something about a storm chasing movie that's just plain fun.

Definitely the 'Top Gun Maverick' of the summer.

I grew up absolutely loving severe weather and still do. Twister is my all-time favorite movie even with its flaws (ice-chip hail stones). The Rib and I went to see Twisters a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. One of my favorite things about the movie is all the subtle nods they gave the original without it being overdone...some were "blink and you'll miss it" types.

It was solid. Enjoyed it for what it was. I agree with the previous poster that the whole "sudden appearance" of a tornado was a little too Hollywood for my tastes. I get they are unpredictable, I live in an area with frequent tornados, but people tend to know when the conditions are pretty ripe for tornado outbreaks and don't just go to rodeos in town without a care in the world. The ending was a little meh for my tastes as well. It just fell flat. And while it didn't have the spark the original did, it's unfair to think it would have. So, all in all, I still enjoyed it.
