Watched it again this morning on Max and it was as good as ever. It was fun saying all of the classic lines.

Now watching the original Red Dawn since it came up in the You May Also Like feed.

Nothing turns a woman on more than when you quote movies ahead of the characters for long stretches of time, ESPECIALLY when they haven't seen it.

The best line from Red Dawn is Lea Thompson character looking forlorn saying "things are different now" then being consoled by Jennifer Grey. I mean thousands of enemy soldiers have killed students, school teachers, fired an RPG into an empty school bus, locked up hundreds in reeducation camps etc. and you think nobody else has the same conclusion as you that things are different?

The first time my wife tried to watch Star Wars with me, I said one of Obi-Wan Kenobi's lines and she got annoyed and said, how far ahead can you do that? When I got 2-3 scenes ahead, she got up and left the room.

Ok this movie pretty much blows. Good thing it didn't launch in theaters or it would be a huge bomb. Barely worth the watch free on Amazon.

Watched last night, I'm pretty forgiving when it comes to bad action movies and this...was not good.

It's kinda charming and fun up through the parking lot fight from the trailer and just after, and Gyllenhaal plays his part well. Then it kind of loses the tone and can't decide what it is, and Conor MacGregor was way too much Conor MacGregor and didn't seem to quite fit in the film.

Gonna watch the original tonight, it's 5 bucks on iTunes.

I went in wanting to like it, but it's pretty dumb. Calling it a remake of the original is a reach. It's barely the same plot.

Movie is absolutely idiotic with little of the redeeming late 80's nostalgia of RoadHouse. Gyllenhaal plays Daulton as a weird, apologetic, ironic emo cooler, and the bad guys are even more contrived and flat than the original. Conor McGregor is actually fantastic in his role and is a much better actor than I thought he would be.

Spot on except McGregor was over-the-top. It's like he really believes he's the Incredible Hulk and demanded the movie make him tougher than Dalton.

So much bad

Swayze is a much better badass type.
No Wade Garrett
They put virtually no effort in the love interest story and she was no Lynch.
Zero hot chick nudity; great scenes if you're a gay male
Fight scenes were cartoonish and far worse than the 80s original.
Stabbing scene to open the movie was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.
Every character, sans Croc-bait guy, was immortal.
Plot and story were nonexistent.

Everything about this movie was bad. It was like a trainwreck that I rubbernecked through.

It was an insult to the original, but I'm not surprised. I just didn't think it would be THAT bad.

I really wanted to like this but it was really bad, even for a bad action movie (and I celebrate Arnold's entire filmography). Gyllenhaal was fine - it wasn't the best acting job of his career, and the character itself was kind of weird (impossible to anger except for random insane outbursts), but he was good enough. But pretty much everything else was bad to terrible.

-The fight choreography was below average
-The bizarre CGI stuffed into every action sequence was awful
-The fact that everybody was invincible felt plain lazy by the writers: guys get hit by cars, catapulted off of boats into buildings, engulfed in high speed boat wrecks, stabbed, shot, whatever, and easily walk all of it off
-probably 60-70% of pornos have a better and more believable romance than this one
-it's only March and Connor McGregor has already locked up the 2024 worst supporting actor Razzie. The character did him no favors, but he managed to take a bad character and make him significantly worse
-the plot and writing were so so bad. The blow up the catamaran scene was one of the worst action movie climaxes I've ever watched

I liked the trailer and was excited to watch this, but holy ****, what a waste. It's not Uwe Boll bad, but maybe 3 or 4 out of 10?
