I haven't seen it yet, but that this isn't a theatrical release is pretty crazy to me.

Watching it tonight with my dad. We watched 1-2 earlier this year and 3 this past weekend.

As great as Bad Boys 4 has performed at the box office with Smith and Lawrence ($166 million in 26 days, over $1 million every day), this has to go down as one of the stupidest decisions of the decade to not put Eddie back i the theaters. The nostalgic crowd alone would have been all over this film, and with BB4 the only adult humor movie out right now, this thing could have made $200m easy and cruised in the top 5 of the box until Deadpool 3 came out.

Just catastrophicaly stupid

Netflix had around 269.6 million paid subscribers worldwide as of the first quarter of 2024. If they get 3.3 million new subscribers (a paltry 1.2% increase) because of this movie and those subscribers stick for an average of 3 months, they'll make that $200 million. I agree it seems like they should have gone to the big screen, but this looks like easy money.

I guess I should let down by Eddie then, who became a mega star because of the movie theater and had a chance to help get it back on its feet.

Yeah, I guess the world is changing. I love movies, and I enjoy your takes on the classics. But I don't go to near as many as I used to, and there aren't nearly as many that appeal to me. It's a two or three times a year event now for me, when it used to be two or three a month. But time is shorter and more valuable these days, and the previews and ads are 3 time longer than in 1988. I'll be able to see the same movie on my big screen tv within 45 - 60 days, and I can watch at my convenience. There's a big difference between a 50 foot screen and a 5 foot screen, but that's the trade-off.

Anyways, I digress. How's the wife and kids?

Shooter freakin McGavin. Eddie was finally Eddie again. Adding JGL and Bacon helped a ton. Very well done.

Just echoing others thoughts here but I really liked it as well. Nothing revolutionary with the plot but they did a fantastic job recreating the feel of an eighties action comedy movie that's just plain fun to watch.

Ironically it kinda made me sad, especially seeing Axel, Taggert, and Billy together in the stakeout car outside the hotel at the end (just like BHC 1)...it made me nostalgic for my youth when these movies came out and seeing how old these guys look reminded me how old I am now, lol.

I watched it late last night due to this thread, enjoyed it. Low expectations due to age of franchise and it being on Netflix. But I thought they did a pretty good job capturing tone of early films. I'm 51 but didn't really remember much about BHC 2 and 3, just the original. Entertained me well enough to suggest someone my age give it a watch. Wouldn't tell someone it's worth signing up for Netflix for though.

I can't be the only one who thought the actress playing Eddie's daughter was so bad. Sounded like she was just reading off the script. It was so glaring that it made the movie terrible.

She was fine. It's an action comedy. Being able to read lines is secondary.

I thought the movie was "ok", mostly brought down by her - I just didn't think she did a good job. Would have been ok for a smaller part but not for as much screen time as she had.

I thought it was pretty good and a nice throwback to 80s action comedy movies. It was about on par with Beverly Hills Cop 2, definitely better than the crappy part 3 but not something I'll likely ever watch again.

I thought it was interesting that Bogomil's daughter is named Jan and Foley's daughter is named Jane. Was that some sort of call back or did an earlier draft of the AF script include Jan that was later changed to Jane during rewrites.

I liked it, it definitely had the BHC vibe/feel.

Watched it last night and had a great time. I expected it to be terrible, so I was very happy.

I was also surprised at Taggart still working in the movie, thinking his character has to be 90. But then realized he is just 76 in real life.

In my mind, I always had him pegged as the old guy in the originals. Dude was only 36 in the first. They had him retired by 46 in the 3rd movie

Fun movie. Worth the watch.

Bacon plays a solid bad guy.

Great they still had all the main guys. Even Surge.

The word I use to describe this movie is "fun". It felt like I was at or watching a great 80s party with a bunch of 80s legends, and I was literally having fun. The action/comedy and story were almost secondary.

I really enjoyed this one. It brought back all the nostalgic feels of 80s/90/s cop/action/comedy very well in my opinion.

I, too, loved that all the characters were around, and thought it was very well done.

I wouldn't have thought so either, but wiki tells me it's true.

The action had me laughing it was so ridiculous but fun.

When he was smashing all the police cars with the snow plow I couldn't stop laughing.

It's no Academy Award nominee but posts like that are ridiculous. There no way they haven't seen a worse movie this month.

It may be the first movie they've ever seen in their life.

Something to think about.
