It really was. This show is weird as hell, and unlike anything I've ever seen, yet I'm riveted every single week.

Finale next week!

I was tense as hell the entire episode. Doug is driving with his breathalyzer is always so tense for some reason, I constantly think he's about to crash or get a dwi. And the rest of the episode was just as tense.

ETA: I'm talking about episode 8. Haven't seen 9 yet.

3 eps in and I have never been so uncomfortable watching a scripted television show. Safdie and Fielder are such a brilliant combo. And how they got Emma Stone I don't know but it's amazing.

I don't regret 9 hours I spent with this show.

I definitely regret the 10th.

If it just ended unceremoniously after the 9th, that would have been the best decision.

This show is nothing without Emma Stone. She killed it. There is no one else who could have played this part. And she deserved infinitely more accolades for this than she does for Poor Things.

That finale was so freaking stupid though.

And showed that Fielder/Safdie cared nothing about the characters they created, and only about being weird and awkward.

Hahahahahahahahahaha that was incredible.

Just so batsh*t bonkers over-the-top out-of-no-where insane, I don't know how anyone could possibly be mad.

That was the whole point, to try to make you angry - to dare you to get angry - and if so, you fell right into it.

All I can do is laugh.

That, and I can't remember the last time, if ever, I felt such creeping, what-the-hell-is-happening anxiety for the full duration of something I was watching. It legit freaked me out, more than damn near any horror movie.

God bless Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie.

Fielder, in particular, is officially a modern day Andy Kaufman.

And massive props to Emma Stone for being so insanely game.

Holy hell.

(Seriously, the effects work was INCREDIBLE. I genuinely don't know how they did half of that.)

Holy sh*t, this is some trippy, next-level, 2001: A Space Odyssey esque symbolism. The timing of it all, and the way they cut back-and-forth, it was obvious in the moment there some kind of reincarnation thing going on. But all the clues in the episodes leading up to it, and how Whitney is now the one who's really cursed... just absolutely brilliant stuff.

And yeah, the finale would make one hell of a double feature with Poor Things, to the point where I'm legit wondering if Stone doing both so close together was planned or intentional in some way. What are the chances that both projects involve Emma Stone and birth in exactly the ways these two projects do (without spoiling either)? Wow...

After a couple of buddies recommended this, I binged it over this past week. Wife bailed after episode 4, she couldn't handle the awkward tension/cringe but I was loving it and kept going. Boy am I glad I did. What a roller coaster of a show. The finale was incredible. The Rachel Ray cold open, the Abshir house gifting, and then the ceiling/birth/Dougie breakdown was so out there and had me on the edge of my seat, crying laughing, and then somber all rolled into one. Nathan Fielder is a treasure. Please give him money to keep doing whatever he wants/concocts.

Loved it. This show had everything. What a ride. I saw 21 new posts and thought for a second that aTmAg had entered the conversation with physics talk but it's just TCTTS on a tweet binge. I wish this had been on HBO so it would have hit the national feed more but maybe it will get some hype as a total package binge.

Here's a really good interview with Benny about a bunch of the decisions made throughout the show and finale.

Not sure if I loved or hated that finale. I loved it and was laughing/cringing until the very end. Wasn't a big fan of the very end.

I've watched this episode 3 times now.

It is just the most WTF bonkers episode of television I've ever seen in my life.

At the end of the day, the show just couldn't figure out what to do with so many of its characters (Abshir, his daughters, Cara, Fernando, that cashier at the jeans store).

There was just so much setup, and so much ultimate disinterest.

That finale was everything in terms of an hour of fantastic television, but mostly nothing in terms of the 9 hours that came before.

But god bless Emma Stone for showing up to this and bringing her A+ game every minute.

Yea I think that sums it up well. The finale was intriguing to watch (and I kinda loved watching it as a stand alone episoide), but it just did nothing to wrap up the previous nine episodes in my opinion. I've read the articles talking about reincarnation, etc and I think that's just a cop out to explain away a show that just ended abruptly without finishing any of the stories.

But it was entertaining to say the least. I'll be in for Fielder's next project. I liked this show much better than his last show on HBO (the one where he rehearsed things over and over). I did not care for that show at all.

Like by the time it's done, I'm more invested in Vincent Pastore, Rachael Ray, and Rachael Ray's camera lady than I am in anyone else in the show.

Except for the A/C dude's helper. "I'm telling everyone" may be the hardest I've laughed at anything ever.

I'm curious, what else was there to "wrap up"? Personally, outside of the Whitney/Asher relationship, and mild interest in Dougie's life, there was nothing else on this show I needed closure on...

- Before his death, Whitney/Asher are still together (for better or worse, Ahser's passionate speech to Whitney at the end of episode nine worked)
- Whitney/Asher are pregnant again/having a baby.
- Their show made it to air/is getting a second season.
- Dougie seems to be doing well for himself (now getting bigger and better gigs?), based on his new car.
- Abshir and his daughters have been gifted the house, and even got Whitney/Asher to pay the current year's property taxes.
- Cara is no longer an artist / is now a full-time masseuse.
- The casino where Asher worked is under investigation.

Is there that much interest in the fate of Fernando the security guard? Whitney's parents? Dean Cain's character? The couple they hired to appear on the show? The clothing store?

I'm genuinely curious, what else were you guys so invested in that you felt was ignored in the end?
