The audio system is well beyond Dolby Atmos. It is a matrix array of speaker modules that use beamforming algorithms to give each section their own set of speaker modules to make sure the sound pressure levels are uniform across the whole venue so everyone's listening experience is the same. They can also create virtual sound sources that place a sound anywhere in the room; almost to the point of having the source whisper in a person's ear and no one else hear it (according to them). The audio system is what I look forward to hearing, the video screen experience is a nice cherry on top

Example of beamforming multiple zones with different languages

Went Wed night - see my post in the concert thread. Regarding the sound - crystal clear, you hear every bass note - not muddied thumping. And amazingly no ringing ears after the show.
The screen really does look like you're outside on some parts - Bono even says we're gonna make the sphere disappear.
Exceeds every expectation.
And the show itself - amazing.

This is 100% spot on.

As are the previous posts talking about the sound.

I went a few weeks ago and the first thing you notice is the video screen. However, when the music started I was in awe of the sound.
Perfectly clear.
The clips on YouTube of the insane video rightly gets a lot of props but the sound is the scene stealer.

The venue is unmatched.

I may have discovered my 50th birthday trip if it's not too late. Is it just as good if you are in the cheap seats up top?

No - sections 300 and 400 are steep and the venue actually tells people to sit, no standing. GA is the way to go, but if price is no issue 100s then 200s. But not the higher rows of those sections because there is an overhang that blocks some views.

I prefer to sit... why do people want to go to a show and have to stand the entire time? I don't understand that.

Yeah, I have zero desire to stand so sounds like sections 300 and 400 are more my speed. What is best place to get tickets?

But what if one of the musicians gets injured or sick and they have to call you out of the stands?

People stand for all sorts of stuff when they're into it. I get how some might not want to, but it's pretty easy to understand why others would.

That emoji was my face when I bought them. I'm guessing there is a cheaper place to buy but I'm out of touch on what those places are. Also ticket prices are wildly divergent.

There were $7k tickets one section over from us. Same view. I paid $1,800.

I employ the Clayton Williams strategy for such scenarios.

Through a connection, I was able to get a room at the Westin for $79/night for a Friday & Saturday night 2 weeks ago.

Likely the best deal I've ever gotten.

And the CFO probably quit because thats what happens to everyone that has to work for James Dolan (Knicks and MSG owner)

The New York Post reported Tuesday that Ranji suddenly quit after a bout of yelling and screaming from CEO James Dolan.

Makes sense.

Quote:

Revenue for the quarter included $4.1 million in event revenue those two sold out U2 shows and $2.6 million from suite licensing and advertising on the Sphere exosphere.

2 entire shows accounted for 3Q revenue. So far this is less than a non story.

Not familiar with the guy but when I read that he quit after get screamed at, I immediately thought "He quit because his boss was a [jerk] not for any financial reason." I used to have a boss that liked to yell and scream so I can relate.

James Jimmy Dolan owns the Knicks and NY Rangers and Madison Square Garden. Famously the most thin skinned owner out there.

He has banned Knick great Charles Oakley from attending games at MSG over a petty feud and kicks out fans who wear shirts saying sell the team, etc.

He's also a 'musician' who is horrible and has been booed and laughed at performing in areas around NYC.

Sphere was an amazing, mind-blowing experience. Both the graphic's display and U2's performance. I would pay to watch most any musical performance.

As jaw-dropping as the visuals were, we were gob-smacked by the acoustics. We were in the 400 level and could hear them chatting on stage away from the mic. It was unbelievable. The band seemed to genuinely have fun and mentioned they were still trying out some of the visuals as they said "not sure that one really works".

The set list of Achtung Baby with a few other hits was a dream come true for this U2 fan. Wild horses was a highlight for me.

We were in the center of the 400 level and the seats were great. We may go in the spring and I'd aim for lower rows in 300s center next time.
