Pro: I thought Rush was a fantastic movie, along with Ford vs. Ferrari. The cinematography feels spot on here yet again. Cannot wait to see this.

Con: that CGI crash hitting the pole/tree midair and bouncing back on the road.... that was 1990s quality graphics.

One interesting thing I noticed in this preview and on the movie posters... I wonder if Adam Driver has had surgery on his ears? If you've ever seen a photo of him from when he was in the military, he didn't really look like someone who would play a leading man one day. Previously, he seemed to get around this by always wearing his hair long, but I realized that he has a short haircut in this, and ears that are obviously different than his used to be. Is this something that a Hollywood makeup artist could achieve? I could see them putting larger ears on someone with smaller ears, but I have a hard time picturing how they would pull his ears back for this look with makeup effects. Surely they wouldn't waste money to CGI something like that. Either way, no judgment from me, just thought it was interesting because I have never seen him wear his hair this short in any other role (Girls, Star Wars, House of Gucci, Marriage Story). I would think such a change would actually make it easier for him to take on a larger variety of roles with different looks.

They look pinned back.

Take a strip of cartilage off the back and they can be pulled back and lay more flat. Pretty common plastic surgery, i believe

Loved it. Add it to the list of great Mann film experiences - a tier below the classics but a solid 4 star. I didn't understand much of the dialog and was mostly lost in the plot but any car scene was amazing. Crank up the volume. Now I can research it and enjoy it at home later with captions.

saw it this evening, give it a 6.5/10. The CGI crashes were ridiculous lough out loud stuff and some of the cinematic choices were questionable.

But the acting and dialog was very good, the story was also compelling. I enjoyed it overall.

Saw it tonight and thought it was excellent. I would have it in the nominees for best picture. And how was Penelope Cruz not nominated? I think it was nominated for best sound.

Saw it yesterday. I enjoyed it, and recommend anyone interested in racing/cars to see it. That said, it wasn't as enjoyable a movie to me as Ford vs Ferrari, or Rush, if comparing historical racing movies.

Pretty good movie overall.

I'd say it's 50% about the racing, and 50% about Ferrari's relationships with his wife and his mistress, which is more compelling than you might think.

Also, don't go in expecting to root hard for Ferrari or his team - this isn't some underdog story or anything like that - but it's still solid, and my whole family thought it was worthwhile. Just an interesting slice of history, with one absolutely insane moment in the third act that left our jaws on the floor (and it actually happened in real life).

Don't go in expecting to have your hand held either. You're kind of thrown in the middle of it all, playing a bit of catch up, but I liked that about it, and you get caught up soon enough.

Again, it's nothing special, but definitely worth at least renting at some point, as it's one of Mann's better efforts over the past couple of decades.
I went in not expecting much but I enjoyed it. I liked Driver as Ferrari and definitely could have watched more. I have a feeling what Mann wanted to do probably had a lot more of both the racing and his personal life. What I thought was missing was something that his wife referenced in their last fight. Where is the tortured genius? Where is the fighter? They crammed a lot into the movie but it felt like it could have been more effective as a series on something like MAX. It was just a small snippet of his life and I would have liked to have seen more.

It's not a movie of heroes and villains, which I know can turn some viewers off but I didn't have a problem with it. I appreciate that Mann didn't present it that way either. Ferrari had adversaries and obstacles but nothing was there to indicate they were extraordinary. They did portray Ferrari himself as complicated but didn't try to paint him in a positive or negative light.

I enjoyed the racing scenes a lot. It's a small thing but one of my favorite details was how the cars sounded. I expected Mann would deliver on that and he did.

This is now streaming on HULU for anyone that's interested.
