My only gripe with the movie is how he ended up with the platoon. I think they could have done the same thing with him imbedding and still have made him unlikeable, etc… That took me out of the movie for a few minutes. Otherwise it's one of my favorite popcorn movies.

Great movie, but I have never understood why he went back two days at the very end.

My understanding is that the omega ending happens before he usually dies (day before the invasion), so he reset back at the prior time he slept. Not sure if that's right but my take on it.

One of the few "groundhog day" type films I could actually sit thru.
But now that I think of it, the only "groundhog day" type films I can think of is Groundhog Day and Edge of Tomorrow.

Source Code is another.

I have another one.
There's a movie called Source Code, starring Jake Gyllenhaal. He repeatedly goes back in time to try and identify the bomber of a train.
I actually went to high school with Michael Arden who also plays a significant part in it.
Didn't get great reviews but I didn't mind it.
EDIT: should have read through the whole thread
It got a 92/82 on RT.AggieArchitect04 said:Urban Ag said:

I don't think it has anything to do with last time he slept other than it's probably a good insertion point. It resets the "day" but really to an Alien, what is a day? The whole point of it rebooting the day is to have time to alter events, so last time it slept could be probablematic if it dies shortly after waking. I think he goes back further the last time simply because he dies while getting "infected" quite a bit earlier.TexasAggie_02 said:Carlo4 said:AustinAg2K said:

It's not even the last time he slept right? Doesn't he train all afternoon, sleep some more, then deploy the next morning? He's basically rebooting back 1.5 days each time.
It's a plot loophole avoidance that starts his day after getting arrested, otherwise, he'd spend all his reboots trying not to get arrested, or going AWOL, etc.
On revisiting, maybe the alpha only has the ability to reset the day. The omega can possibly control any number of days, so he chose this one as he knew he could make amends with the General and go meet Emily Blunt.Mr President Elect said:I don't think it has anything to do with last time he slept other than it's probably a good insertion point. And he does go AWOL at one point, but gets killed anyways; which I think emphasised the severity of the battle and that it wasn't just isolated to the beach.
Sorry for derail, but I loved that Ted Lasso used "I got you babe" in season 2 when Keeley started freaking out that every morning was the same, Roy is always there. Such a great reference.c-jags said:he got knocked out and that's when he woke up the next day.OnlyForNow said:
