After watching pretty much everything Disney has put out over the last 60 years in the last 10 years, I found an odd pattern for myself that my 3 favorites - Tangled, Beauty and the Beast (live action) and Moana have the common theme of the heroine NOT losing her parents. Belle's mom dies before the movie, but she reunites with her dad, while Rapunzel gets her family back and Moana gets back home. Nice themes that not everyone has to have a terrible tragedy to find themselves.

I've seen all except Moana and Spider-Man: into the spider-verse.

Is Beauty and the Beast (2017) the animated one? I've seen that one…if it's something different then I haven't.

The animated version, which I prefer, came out in 1991.

I never even heard of the Prestige until after my kids were born and I was frequently awake from 12-4 a.m. I started watching it on Showtime or something one night and just couldn't believe the cast! I got my wife to watch it weeks later and the second time through when you know the secrets it's even better.

I would much rather pick from the movies I haven't seen on this list than those I haven't seen on the AFI list.

If those I've seen are not critically acclaimed, they're at least fun, interesting, or memorable in some way.

I'm in my early twenties, which is younger than a lot of people on TexAgs, so I've seen less movies than them. Also, when you included Pirates of the Caribbean on the list, were you only referring to the first one?

The first one is the only good one, the rest are garbage.

I read this as IMDB trivia, but the Emperor's New Groove was one of the first Disney movies where a mother/wife didn't die and/or be the villain. That was in the year 2000...

Disney has mommy issues for sure.
