Kacey Musgraves at Toyota center on Monday night. Fun show!

I'd like to know more about how tickets are released. I check prices and availability a lot, and ticket peddlers definitely hold back rows until closer to show day on almost all of the concerts I attend. It sucks thinking I got a great deal on a seat in Row T, just to look back a month later and see they released the entire Row L for the same price.

I've also noticed "Blue Dot Fever" this year. Everyone from Rush to Skynyrd to Blackberry Smoke has seats available until the last minute, and prices typically fall. I'm guilty myself. I went a little crazy after the Covid break, and now I'm a little burned out and passing up concerts I would normally attend.

One last thing for the Woodlands Pavillion question- I was there in August, and the music was done at 10:45 pm.

That's exactly the show I'm looking at for Saturday - Chevelle/Breaking Ben … definitely falls into that category of 'don't have to go but if the price is right….'

I'm going to do the same and see what it looks like day of and grab a couple if they come down. It's really just to go rock out a little with my boy

oh nice. do it, just wait, assuming it's not close to selling out.

I'm off to see the wizard.. I mean METALLICA BABY!

Popping my cherry with this company to get there.
What a game changer. Left house at 10:40, got to this airport at 10:53, on the plane at 11:15.

get $100 off your first flight and I get $100 too.

Use referral code 7975M3
Free to sign up JSX.com

No tsa, free checked bags and alcoholic drinks, 20 min check in. Only 30 people on the plane so really fast getting on and off and no overhead bins.
No baggage carousels, you get it immediately after getting off plane, Seat pitch matches typical United first class.

A bit limited destinations for now, but it's growing.

United credit cards get a credit (I used club card for $200 off and wife's explorer card for $100 off. So my $409 ticket was $109, but then the price dropped and I called and now I have a $40 credit.

yep I am still very much uninformed. I saw a spoiler or two over the last week, but I still tried to move on quickly to try and forget it.

Jsx was awesome, we walked through the plane door to get off and were on an uber in about 4 minutes. Went to go get a burger and the bartender was a Metallica nut and seeing them next month so we got to bs about favorite albums and songs and whatnot.

Austin City Limits, Week 2. I saw all or part of:
  • Turnstile - Probably the act of the weekend; super high energy, great connection with the crowd, and just a good punk show
  • Live - They were fine. Probably a few too many deep cuts for a show like this, but I at least got Dolphin's Cry, **** Town, and of course Lightning Crashes. Small crowd, since they were up against Chainsmokerz.
  • Charli XCX - She was okay; not really my style of music and she's probably the ACL pop headliner I've liked the least over the years. She's not shy about the ole T&A; the special guest she brought out (Tinashe) didn't get much of a reaction, but I think people had too high of expectations.
  • Suki Waterhouse* - I remember enjoying the music and the general vibe of her set, but I couldn't tell you a thing about it today.
  • Lykke Li* - I'd wanted to see her, but none of her songs really grabbed me other than "Get Some" and "I Follow Rivers", which I already knew.
  • Rufus Du Sol* - Going with the theme, they were alright, but not really my thing
  • Saint Motel - Were not on my radar but really enjoyed what I heard and lead singer A.J. Jackson really connected with the crowd.
  • Geese - I just don't get it. At all.
  • Jason Scott & The High Heat - Caught the very end of their set; they were a welcome breath of fresh air as a straight-ahead country/rock act
  • Sofi Tukker - Light entertainment, and Sofi is pretty. Most interesting crowd of the weekend - saw a dude dressed as a cowboy shuffle dancing, and a gal wearing an "Anal Bead Tug of War Champion" t-shirt; she was with a dude wearing a "Don't Bully Me - I'll Cum" shirt.
  • The War On Drugs - Almost certainly the best musicians I saw this weekend. Great guitar work and just a great vibe all around.
  • Twenty One Pilots - Not really my thing, and I dipped out early, but folks I went with said it was phenomenal, and the crowd was really into it.
  • The XX - Not sure if they were really Sunday headliner worthy, but I was pleasantly surprised and had some great melodies. They said they're working on new music.
Overall: very hot and even dustier than normal. The lineup was very heavy on EDM and pop this year; there was almost no hip-hop or country, and the rock acts at the top half of the card were heavy on the indie. Stage selection and flow was...not great--they put some big names in smaller stages (particularly the Tito's tent) and the location of the Snapchat (formerly Lady Bird) stage really interrupted the flow between the two main stages, creating bad bottlenecks. Lot of half-naked women running around, which was sometimes outstanding and sometimes...less so.

*My opinions on Suki Waterhouse, Lykke Li, and Rufus Du Sol may have been negatively influenced by the fact that I had gastro issues and damn near **** myself at one point during the day.

Claude!
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I ate nothing at the festival and drank overpriced canned water. It's so damn hot out there I never feel like drinking alcohol or eating.

Almost forgot: the best part of the entire weekend was listening to the pavilion get awfully quiet when OU hit the walk-off field goal.

or he's secretly liberal.. that's the whole idea. he's famous for songs, so he respects the fact that people are there to hear the songs, not hear political or social commentary.

Good for James, et al.

Pathetic on society's part that he even needs to take time to say that, but I guess there will always be those that have to make concerts about themselves. The a-holes that bring signs and flags to shows and don't care about whose view they're blocking.

Good seats for Def Leppard are little too rich for my blood. I like them, but not paying $250+ for lower level in Toyota Center. Maybe if the openers were better. Going to wait and see

If you look at the lyrics and themes of early Metallica, you would think he might lean liberal. But he's now in an income level and tax bracket that probably has him voting with the GOP. Just looking at how they handled the Napster situation 25 years ago, they are prone to back big businesses interest including their own. The best comparison I can think of is they are like Michael Jordan. They want to sell shows and merch to all above all else. Thats their choice. I don't fault them for it.

Caught BEAT on Wednesday in Phoenix. Fantastic show! Steve Vai, Adrian Belew, Tony Levin, and new drummer for this tour Terry Bozzio.

They played 80's and 90's King Crimson music that Belew and Levin were originally on. And since three of them are also Frank Zappa alumni, they added "City of Tiny Lites" during the encore (Belew and Bozzio played on the original).

Steve Vai plays this stuff as well as Robert Fripp did, and adds his own style to it. And Tony Levin has played with just about everyone ever - he's on John Lennon's Double Fantasy album, Paul Simon's 50 Ways to Leave your Lover, everything Peter Gabriel's ever released, Bryan Ferry's Slave to Love, Pink Floyd, Yes, on and on.

yeh early days they were anti establishment, the punk attitude.
He left CA and was vocal about it; he def doesn't associate with the liberal politics over there. Kirk probably does, he's way more of a hippy.

I didn't get Def Leppard either. Too expensive IMO. I'll try the seconday market the day of the show.

Goo Goo Dolls put on a good show. I took my daughter to see them last year and I surprisingly enjoyed it. Not sure about the opener.

The Struts are really good- essentially a modern Queen. I am more interested in them than the Goo Goo Dolls.

Agreed on The Struts. Saw them years ago at a small festival in Norway. About 250 in small venue off the main stages. A lotta fun.

Saw them open at the woodlands years ago, I think for Foo Fighters. Could tell they were good.
