Johnny Blue Skies blew my cheeks off on Friday. May have mentioned it earlier but had some buddies see Sturgill 10 years ago at Club Dada. They were ahead of the curve but I've been wanting to see him/they/them for a decade now.
Holy ***** That was the best non jamband, but still will jamband you in the face when they feel like it that I've ever seen.
Nearly three hours straight. No setbreak. Just straight fire. It's a shame they only had Austin and no other TX dates. Already looking into where I can see them next. Possibly Charleston.
If they are anywhere near you please go see them.

went to STP/Godsmack last night. I checked the concert prior on setlist.fm, and it said opener Dorothy at 7, stp 7:45, godsmack about 9.
So I show up at 7:30, and STP is on second to last song. WTF!
It was apparently all an hour earlier for Denver. Godsmack was done by 9:30..
Kinda bummed as I really went for STP, and know they are usually 90s heavy.. in fact their entire set (from the prior show anyway) was 90s, nothing past No4. album

I assume so; those are the emails Metallica would have.Counterpoint said:62strat said:

Dave's voice is clearly in decline, even for him, and he looked in pretty rough shape, even for him, but they can still shred..

It's Temu megadeth, literally.

Add in a 50 year old drummer and I would hope the 'band' still sounds good

Not sure I knew he had original songs, everything I had seen from him was a cover. Been curious what the draw was for him.
but SRV and Hendrix had a thorough catalog of well known originals. That's where Billy is an anomaly.Philo B 93 said:TXAG 05 said:

The draw for Billy Strings is that he is a freak of nature, talentwise. He's the bluegrass acoustic version of a SRV or Hendrix, and you realize it when you see him live. Bluegrass isn't that cool or interesting to me. But when you see a guy with his level of raw talent, it just draws you in if you like music.
You've probably seen the famous youtube video of him on a couch in an apartment playing "Dust in a Baggie" for his buds, including the stoned guy who looks like a garden gnome. That's when I realized his talent was next-next level. I saw him live and confirmed it.
