Plowing his property in Reno, ran over his own leg with his snow cat. A neighbor who happened to be a doctor applied a tourniquet and saved his life.

This is what he somehow ran over his own leg with.

He probably put on a reel of his own movies and fell asleep at the wheel.

'Safety features failed'

looking at that thing, you do not get out of it, or get near it, while the motor is running, period.

Or while parked if on a slope, without digging the scraper in to anchor it.

That thing is worse than a tractor and you cant ever assume some 'safety feature' is going to prevent it from moving.

Sucks, but those are basic lessons you have to learn working with this kind of machinery.

was just thinking that. The manufacturer will definitely have some comments on those "failed features" if Renner runs with that story.

hate to say this but if the guy who rescued him was a medical professional and he applied a tourniquet, then it doesn't bode well for that leg.....

S.W.A.T. was just before Hurt Locker.

I first saw him in a reality show on Bravo called "The IT Factor". This was after he did Dahmer and was about a bunch of struggling actors. In the finale he had just hit his big break and got offered SWAT and a movie called The Big Bounce (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0315824) at the same time. He had to pick basically between the money (SWAT) and the smaller movie that had some bigger stars, like Morgan Freeman. He chose SWAT.

It was a fun show and I remember really liking him in it.

He'll always be the stoner from National Lampoons Senior Trip to me. I didn't see him again for a decade until Hurt Locker and was like "Huh, this guy can act!"

Renner's got a handful of solid movies under the belt

Hurt Locker
The Town
American Hustle
Wind River
Mayor of Kingstown

Hope he comes back strong and makes as full a recovery as possible.

Honestly, Hawkeye might be my favorite of the Disney+ slate and half of it is him.

Arrival tops all of those for me.

Hurt Locker is amazing and that final scene hits so hard.

Don't forget "Dahmer". He was great in that.

I enjoyed "28 Weeks Later" too.

His best movie by far was Senior Trip and he was great as Dags.

I have read some unconfirmed stuff that his pelvis was messed up too, this kind of confirms there's more than the leg. But he's talking apparently.

I hope he recovers and can walk in the future. It sounds like he was very very lucky to survive.

On the entertainment front this may very well force a change to Kate Bishop faster than they wanted to.

You need to take an updated first aid class. A tourniquet is the first, best way to stop a limb bleed from major trauma, and using a tourniquet is in no way some sort of guarantee that you will lose the limb.

Ok, so what the hell. I hear so many varying stories about tourniquets and cpr.

What is the real deal on each?

They both work. Learn how to do/use both.

Yep. Everyone should take a cpr/first aid course every couple of years. Never know when you'll have an opportunity to help someone in an emergency situation.
