Started the JW rewatch last weekend - introduced my girlfriend to the series. Watching JW3 tonight. Got the IMAX tickets for Friday!

Rewatched the trilogy last Sunday. Tickets for the first show Saturday morning.

To be fair, this was back when the script had been written for an older, Harrison Ford / Clint Eastwood type, before he was played by Keanu and became a superhero.

I need to go back and re-watch 3 for sure since I've only seen it a couple times. I've seen 1 more times than I can count and 2 about 10. I love the first one.

i've caught a few bits and pieces on tv, and it looked like just pretty dull 'reeves kills lots of helpless badguys' worn out action trope.

am i wrong on that?

Yes. Because they're not dull, they're awesome. All gas, no brakes. If you can't have a good time with these movies, I seriously question your taste.

In a nutshell, the premise of the movies is there exists this underground world of assassins with a global network for almost everything (guns, tailors, doctors, etc) at their disposal, but who also live by a set of rules/codes. John Wick was one of the elite ones who was able to leave that world behind, but got pulled back in by just randomly crossing paths with Reek. The other 2 movies are continuations of the story in part 1.

He does kill a lot of helpless bad guys, but it's pretty freakin' awesome.

Probably the best exchange of dialogue in the whole series so far. It shows the high regard and fear that the whole organization has for John very simply without any need for exposition.

Completely agree. Something about the 3rd one the fights dragged on and got excessive. Didn't have the same emotion/intensity to it either. The bald sword guy made it kind of goofy.

I knew as soon as they opened with a particular, infamous match cut that we were in for something special. That was FANTASTIC.

Not only the best of the series by far, it surpasses Fallout as the best action movie since The Matrix.

My God, the amount of amazing setpieces in this movie. And when you think they can't top themselves, they do it again.

And the cinematography was so damn good. Seriously, this might be the best looking action movie ever made.

Watch this on the biggest screen you can find. That was a near orgasmic experience.

Like you said, the stunts and set pieces are just incredible. The body count was insane in this movie.

Going to see it tonight and EVERYONE is saying this is the best Wick movie so far!
