I like this show too. I like that anything is possible, it doesn't make sense and doesn't care. The actors are super charismatic. I love every line reading that Klaus and Five do. It looks like everyone involved is having a lot of fun doing crazy stuff all the time.
You guys are all blowing Elliot Page out of the water. The show handled it as well as possible. They spent a grand total of maybe 2 minutes on the transition. He showed up, said his name was Viktor once, his family each accepted it and everyone moved on. It wasn't an issue at all once everyone knew. The bigger issue of the series and Allison's problem was Viktor lying about Harlan and nothing else.
It wasn't a major plot point, but it did keep coming up in what seemed like very forced situations. For instance, when Luther and Diego are talking about whether they should throw Viktor a party. The way it happened and was written felt like an HR video on how to talk to your new trans co-worker, which made it feel very preachy. I get they handled it the best they could, but that doesn't mean or didn't feel like an unnecessary sideshow.
ETA Vanya/Viktor's arcs feel like they're written on the fly for Page and that the character is being created for the actor, not that the actor is playing a character. Whether Page is lesbian, trans, or whatever should be irrelevant to the character's story. Barney Stinson is a perfect example. Neil Patrick Harris is gay, and yet he played, very well in fact, a super straight character whose seemingly sole purpose in life was to bang as many hot women as possible. HIMYM would have sucked if halfway through they said, "Oh, Neil is gay? Well, Barney's going to be on the hunt for guys now."
