So now I'm wondering if we see the connection between BCS and BB happen sooner rather than later. At this point, Saul still believes that Nacho and Lalo are alive, but how long can it last before he figures something out. We know he thinks they're still alive at the time of his appearance in the BB timeline.

Will the bodies be discovered after the lab got blown up?

I don't think Lalo cared if it was Kim or Saul, either way it plays out the same. That's why he finally basically just said "fine, whatever" when Saul kept pushing for her. As long as one of them tied up Gus's men, he was good.
As far as going to the laundromat, I don't think that's a huge stretch. He would be smart enough to know that the Kim thing was a diversion, so then it was just a question if what it was for. And the only real secret he had at risk was the bunker. That's why Mike called it playing detective, or whatever phrase he used.

Good interview here with the episode writer discussing Lalo:

Did Gus only have two or three bullets in his revolver? Seems like he only shot a few times before he was empty?

Biggest one is Gus having the gun in the lab exactly where he'd need it.

I will say I'm glad he at least had to run over to retrieve it instead of magically being kicked to the ground by Lalo right in the exact spot where he could reach out and grab it, which is honestly what I thought I was going to have to endure when they showed him hiding it.

This was the episode Odenkirk almost died on while filming.

Also, re: sending Kim, to me it seemed pretty obvious Jimmy was trying to get her to run and it seems a little weird that Lalo trusted her not to.

Lalo sensed she had bigger cajones than Saul from the first time he met her and that she'd do anything for him (first scene together in jail when Jimmy went missing). He really just needed enough confidence that she'd get to Gus' porch.

I need a smoke after that. Absolutely loved it.

  • Yeah, the Kim/Jimmy thing was a distraction; Lalo wanted video of the lab. I *think* the whole 'he talked him outta it' confirmed a flea flicker to Gus, knowing Lalo wouldn't be there at the condo. Thinks maybe he'll destroy lab, gets bamboozled and shot, but gets his Hail Mary chance with his hidden gat.
  • The most unbelievable part was Gus' grab, point, shoot. He must've been hitting the range.
  • I'm embarrassed how long it took me to realize who's black door that was.
  • Lalo going out with a chuckle, trying to make one last joke.
  • I do hope Mike gets paid enough for this. He needs a vacation
  • "Keep telling yourself the lie"

I think Better Call Saul might very well have edged out Breaking Bad tonight.

One of the best episodes of television I've ever seen.

Braaaaakes. Can't make that kind of proclamation a few hours later. The Howard stuff hit hard and was very well done. But there were some stretches in this one. While it doesn't run it, I think both Lalo and Gus plans essentially coming together just a little too perfectly was a bit much if we're gonna talk all-time great territory

Bold proclamations need some percolating time

That was phenomenal. It's hard to believe we still have 5 episodes left after what felt like a penultimate type episode.

Of all the amazing things that happened, for some weird reason the shot that made me go "holy s" was when Lalo was about to ziptie Jimmy to the chair. There was a camera mounted to the side of the chair, and the viewer went along for the ride as lalo pulled it toward jimmy while forcing him to sit on it. That was some incredibly creative cinematography and just further reason to appreciate the attention to detail and angles in this show

When the filmmaking is this good I could not care less if the story is *slightly* stretched or whatever. I don't need near-perfect logic, and more often than not the pursuit of near-perfect logic is the enemy of good drama. All I know is how I reacted to the episode emotionally, in-the-moment, and that the image of Lalo and Howard being buried together was one of the most haunting, poignant images I've ever seen in a TV show, especially combined with that score.

The reality (of her actions toward Howard) has now set in for Kim. She's a changed person after tonight's episode.

So what's left to finish the story?

Appearance by Walt and Jesse.

What happens to KIm?

The Cinnabon story.

What else am I missing?

Yes….very sad watching Mike take the ring and wallet off his body then tell the boys "easy" before they tossed him in. Farewell Howie….

I think you need to take a look back at all of Breaking bad if you felt like it came together a little to perfectly. Thats a recurring theme in both shows, especially involving Gus Fring. Thats essentially a character trait for him.

I wonder how long it takes Saul to move into the big house, because I cant imagine they can live in that apartment much longer without going crazy.
They also cant move too quickly or its potentially suspicious.

My theory has always been that because this season technically features three "extra" episodes, for 13 total, as opposed to the usual 10, the final three episodes *might* all potentially be set in the Cinnabon timeline. Which would mean only two episodes left in Albuquerque. And based on the voiceover preview for next week, it sounds like the next episode, at least, is in the immediate aftermath of tonight's events. So, maybe… one episode left in the current timeline, one episode to somehow introduce Walt and Jesse (set between now and 2008), and then the final three episodes in the Cinnabon timeline.

I'm almost assuredly wrong, but that's my best guess as of now.

Good heavens what fun that would be.

Meantime, can we give some love to Gus calling his asst manager while shot? That was the ultimate Gus scene.

I also wondered what did they do with Gus' men that Lalo shot. Weren't there 3 other bodies besides Lalo and Howie?

I've said it before but this was another episode where I did not look at my phone or the clock the entire time - being truly immersed in the show is great story telling.

Looking forward to the rest of the BCS universe being made aware of Howard's demise and seeing how Meryl Streep and Laurence Olivier (Kim and Jimmy) react to the news.

Don't know how Jimmy can think Lalo is still alive.

If Mike tells you someone ain't coming back, they ain't coming back.
