Didn't a hooker(s) confront Howard at a crowded restaurant a season or two ago? I think that has something to do with it.
You're right, but as walton pointed out Jimmy did that to him. However, I suppose it's possible to infer that word of that trickled its way to his wife.

What's the back story on the wife and why Howard has to sleep in the pool house? I admit, I zoned out a lot on some of the lawyer story line. thanks

They haven't delved into it much - I believe the first reference to it is when they showed Howard visiting a therapist a few episodes back in which he discusses some marriage problems. Then, in the cold open last episode with the coffee, they showed him getting ready for work in the guest house then walking to the main house's kitchen. And then of course he brought it up in his spiel to Kim and Jimmy right before getting shot.
ok thanks. Not sure any of that warrants a bullet to the wife. Maybe Spilner should ease up on the red bulls.

Howard spent a lot of time and effort carefully making a peace sign in the foam of the espresso he made for her, and she just **** all over it by pouring it out of the mug into another container.

Absolutely horrid person.

And didn't clean up what she spilled on the counter. That pissed me off, and I felt genuinely bad for Howard.

It was an astonishingly elegant way to film the entire marriage in one telling scene.

How quickly would that get out of the system? They wouldn't want it showing up on an autopsy report. They have to get Mike to ditch Howard in the desert.

I figured they were done after agreeing to that settlement with Jimmy

Kim got what she needed from Viola, and Kevin had his last encounter with Jimmy at the country club. I think it's done

Assuming suicide isn't what's determined to have happened. Isn't life insurance forfeited in cases like that?

Gut feeling is that Mesa Verde will be back in the mix before it's all over.

This midseason break is less than ideal for me.

It takes mental horsepower to re-engage with a show like this.

I'd rather stay engaged and get through it in one shot.

Final montage of BCS will show Kim sitting on the porch of some ranch in Mexico raising Lalo's kid and getting fat with the other abuelas,

Gus serving Huell Babanaux some chicken.

Gayle setting up the lab.

Jesse and Jane getting on dope.

Skylar being a ****.

Skinny pete and Badger doing what they do.

And now Howard is the most tragic. He was a good man for the most part who got completely scammed and then killed. And the way they made him so vulnerable with that speech before killing him was just perfect.
It fit his arc perfectly. He was first scammed by Chuck, who he thought was a trusted colleague...but Howard was simply used to carry out Chuck's vendetta against Jimmy and punishing Kim. Then Chuck stabs Howard in the back in the end, after Howard stuck his neck out to support Chuck. It's obvious his marriage was failing, so maybe he was scammed there as well. Then he was scammed by Jimmy and Kim.

I don't think Howard's character made the heroic turn like Hank did throughout the BB series, but he was certainly not the jerk he was portrayed to be at the beginning.

Deep down I just kept having this feeling that something was going to happen to Howard by someone in Jimmy/Kim's criminal world.

That was some brilliant writing. And the perfect way to leave things at the halfway point. How does Kim react? When do Kim/Jimmy fracture...was that the moment?

There are so many directions this could go. I think nearly everyone was expecting Kim to get caught or killed...but instead we get this.

Howard meticulously made a cappuccino for her with an artistic swirl in her cream. She just dumped it into her mug as if it was nothing.

What if the black and white flash forwards in Omaha actually take place pre-BB timeline? Has that been discussed? Maybe his supposed blown cover prompt him to return to ABQ?

I just came to post this. I got the sense in the scenes when he's looking back at the Better Call Saul commercials that he was looking back fondly. I don't think he would do that if Kim were dead.

Usually just an exclusion on suicide in the first year or two of a policy. After that someone can blow their brains out and have it pay out

This is more of a discussion since we have a couple of months, but still don't know what ABQ holds for Saul to go back to? Unless it's a Walt like score settling, but who is left to settle the score with? Why does Saul need to be there just so we can see a few of the BB characters? Seems contrived.

Kim is the only potential draw and keeping her in ABQ now after Howard's brains on the wall don't set up well for that. Maybe he wants to steal Betsy away?

He did call the vacuum guy as Gene, after the cab driver figured him out. He backs out though. That's the last we've seen of Gene

There's no way Jimmy goes back to ABQ.

He's currently in Omaha. And again, the show has gone out of its way, over multiple seasons, to tell us that Kim is from Nebraska. Two flashback license plate shots, I think two verbal mentions, and then maybe a t-shirt appearance or two. There's absolutely no way that's not intentional. In fact, I would bet just about anything that the Gene timeline is leading toward *some* kind of Jimmy/Kim reunion. It's inevitable.

I'll go so far as to say Kim isn't vacuumed either. She merely returns home, a broken woman, a shell of her former self. And that's how Jimmy/Gene finds her, not living under some alias, but as herself.

Are you guessing he didn't know Kim was there/hadn't seen her prior to his call to Vacuum Man desiring another disappearance? Either he didn't know she was there/hadn't seen her, or we are shown a fleeting and bittersweet meeting between the two that also clearly implies it's a one time meeting (meaning nothing to stop him from feeling Omaha) - I think one of those would be true if she's in Nebraska but he's willing to disappear again. Perhaps the reunion only happens after the cancelled call to the Vacuum guy as well.

Depending on how much heat is on him, meeting with her puts her at risk.

Maybe he meets Kim's mother and apologizes?

Anything is possible with these writers but I also don't think they will kill Kim's character so a reunion is certainly possible.

The poster above seemed to be referencing that scene and Jimmy/Gene's comment about having done it once before, and I was pointing out the once before and that it was for Jimmy, not Kim
