I wonder how big the cliffhanger will be, or if instead of a cliffhanger - meaning plot to be resolved in the second half of the season - how big the "shock event" will be. I'm assuming something big will happen.

While it's not a big break, I'd still prefer to not have to wait until July for the second half.

All I know is that Gillian and Gould says it would change the way we look at BB. We haven't seen anything really to effect that yet. So whatever it is, it must be big

Based on the promo Gene slipping on a brightly-colored sport coat, I think the plot in the current timeline reaches some sort of stopping point. The second half of the season is in the Gene timeline and resolves many questions from BB and BCS.

Good to know, better to go in to tonight's episode with "normal" expectations.

OK, that's good to know. A whole lot would need to happen in one episode for my theory of a Gene-centric second half to work. I still think something really bad happens to Howard.

I'm guessing "various delays" means Bob Odenkirk's heart attack.

Appears that way.

That's interesting, and good to know not to go into the episode with higher than normal expectations.

That said, I am more than ready to finally see D-Day.

Trying to remember, when did they start on whatever this plan is? Was it the end of last season, or start of this season? I watched some old S5 reactions right before it started so I can't remember specifically.

The seeds were being planted at the end of S5 when Jimmy and Kim were staying at the hotel to lay low/hide from Lalo. They would banter back and forth about what they could do to Howard after Jimmy told Kim he shattered Howard's Jag's windows with bowling balls.

Then why the **** is AMC setting false expectations and letting the writers be the ones to set it straight???

AMC couldn't have botched the promo and marketing is this stellar show any worse. They though 'well it'll be clever if we had the season opening date in the promo screenshots that Gilligan provided, it'll be enough".

Not only that, but the app was ****ed on the day of the season opener.

No cool promo offering packages to scam with the stars in Albuquerque for good PR, no contests, no nothing. Even for the Fring is back season, they opened a pop up pollos Hermanos restaurant in NYC to celebrate.

Boo on AMC for setting false expectations with tonight's episode

If they put as much marketing into this as they do walking dead, it would have been great. And walking dead sucks now

That kind of changes many expectations. I assumed this was the end of pre BB time and everything else would be concurrent or post.

BB had far more excitement that BCS so far. And just as much character development. BCS is great. But not as great at BB (yet).
Apples and oranges. BB was an exciting show with lots of action and surprises. BCS is a slow burn drama.

There's also an element of dread with BCS because we know there will not be a happy ending.

I've never had more of a dread feeling in any fictional show that I had when watching the last half of BB season 5. More so than any moment in BCS so far.

(BTW, The most dread I've felt any entertainment was watching the movie Bully based on a true life murder. There is a scene where a bunch of teenagers decide to act out a murder they had been planning. Some of them freak out and don't want to take part, other get "forced" to take part by others, etc. It's a real unsettling scene. Especially since it really happened.)

Bully is a super disturbing movie, all the way around.
