So in case you didn't know, Stallone decided to revisit Rocky IV and make a directors version. New scenes added and some deleted to try to give the film more meaning. I'm not sure what my expectations were, but wow he succeeded.
I've never liked watching the Apollo fight. I thought his death was a cheap story telling device and based on interviews, I think Stallone agreed. This movie was different. Now Apollo's death is a Greek tragedy. The extra scenes he added with his wife were gut wrenching and the guilt Rocky carries with him for not stopping the fight has more weight.
And in 4K…OMG yes please go back and remaster the others. The 4K scenes looked beautiful. I'm not sure this version replaces the original in my mind, but it's nice to have a fresh take on it.
