I'd never really spent any time at all on the GB until today. That place is... weird.

I mentioned at one point my experience at F16, and why I quickly left.
But I also played around on Gb for a while and that place is genuinely odd. Didn't stay long there either, though I wasn't treated badly at all. It kinda just felt like a place where everyone let the weird part of themselves out, the part they couldn't the show the public. Just felt dirty after being there.

It's a furry convention.

Its gotten way worse over the last 5 years. I used to really enjoy the GB. Now its like 95% really weird threads and the tangents that devolve from them.

I mainly stick to the soccer board, other sports and EB and I'll venture over to the Zoo come Saturdays.

Aside from having your name in your email, I suspect it would have been relatively easy to "triangulate" someone's Texags handle with their answers in the polls. We routinely discussed the polls in the thread itself. So somebody can say "I can't believe Natalie Portman lost to Felicity Jones on the Star Wars Hotties Poll!" (**COUGH** TCTTS **COUGH**)

Well, now you know who voted for Natalie over Felicity.

So now, you have an email matched to a Texags handle, and you may have their personal details based on their email address.

At some point, you can still respect the fact that really bad things happened and they shouldn't simply be overlooked or forgotten (I hope he made amends with the victims and is legitimately remorseful), and still accept that someone has paid their debt and judge them on how they are now. Not being accepted as a poster on texags isn't a life sentence. Plenty of people have paid their debts to society. Doesn't mean I want to engage with them at all.

It's not up to me as to whether he should post here anymore, nor is it my place to "forgive" or "move on". But as a father of underage girls myself I certainly won't give him the time of day anymore. The dude would have been in his 30's when this all went down. It's pretty ****ing sick.

It's pretty easy, he'll be one of the very few people I have on the ignore list.

Yea I'm not sure how anyone with daughters can just forgive and forget on something like that. I'm going to spend my entire 40s and 50s so paranoid. Can only hope to teach the girls to know better.

I forgive because I have been forgiven. Doesn't mean I condone, or trust, or stop worrying about my daughters. I've not been put in the same position as those fathers, I fully realize.

I hope for the best for him, as I've been given the same grace for my own shortcomings. I hope he's reconciled and made himself right.

Yeah, I'm legit conflicted on this. The more we learn, the more it sounds like this wasn't a one time thing at all. It sounds almost like he had a compulsion, and did this quite often, to both minors and adults alike. Again, people are obviously capable of change, and I want to give the Muck/Fat Bib we all know and love the benefit of the doubt l, but I'm definitely feeling a bit more icky about writing it off as potentially a single bad decision back in the day.

Preying on young women is unacceptable. Forgive him all you want, but would you want him around your daughters? No? Well then you sure didn't forget.

I wouldn't want anyone that knowingly did that interacting with me at all, and it is quite shocking that others here are torn on it simply because they like his online persona.

Edit - and of course we all have shortcomings. Every one of us, some great and some small. Some past, some present and some future. I get that in ways ill never post about herr. I've never been accused nor convicted if preying on women for my own sexual gratification though, and I hope no one else here has either. That is a bridge too far and something I'm not willing to move past. It is fantastic that yall thibk he has changed and enjoy his posts. It doesn't change the fact that he did that. Imo he shouldn't be allowed to post here simply because that isn't the kind of folks we want to associate with.

Nope, I don't disagree. I wouldn't forget that. I wouldn't want my daughters around him. That can't be trusted. And the behavior is 100% unacceptable and pretty heinous.

But I make the decision not to hate him for it, and I do hope that he can or has turned himself around. I hope that he has the support system he needs in his life. That doesn't mean I think he should be alone with young girls.

But if he's made himself right, and paid for it, at what point should he be allowed back into society? I don't have a good answer, and I respect your boundaries and reasoning. If nobody is there for people who fail or are broken, when will they ever be made right?

You're really oversimplifying the situation. No one here is "torn" about their opinions of sex offenders, nor is anyone here excusing their behavior. We all obviously think that sh*t is abhorrent. We're simply saying that IF it was long enough ago, IF he is truly remorseful, and IF he has legitimately changed as a person, which it sounds like he MIGHT have done, some of us here are capable of letting the past stay in the past when it comes to interacting with him on the board. Especially if this board in some way helps him continue to stay the course, so to speak. But because we can't know those things for sure, THAT'S where our being "torn" comes in. And because those things are ultimately unknowable, yeah, like I said earlier, it's probably best he just go his own way at this point.
