Not a film, but Breaking Bad's use of "Crystal Blue Persuasion" by Tommy James and the Shondells was fantastic.

So many great ones in BB.

Two crazy intros with chill songs that I wasn't aware of before. Both movie intros are fairly-to-very violent, so not linking to them here.

From "Bronson"
The Electrician by Walker Brothers

and

From "Hardcore Henry"
Let Me Down Easy by The Stranglers

As a man is, so he sees. - William Blake

"Lookin' the Magic" by the Dwight Twilley band from the movie "You're Next".

That was the first time I had heard the song. They played it so much, and it's such a catchy tune, it became part of my go to playlist.

One of the coolest songs from BB, and it was composed by teenagers.

Basically the entire soundtrack to Real Genius. I'm Falling and Number One are particularly great......not to mention the song during the ending credits.

Also the Breakfast Club....obviously Don't You Forget About Me is well known, but Fire in the Twilight and We Are Not Alone are great tracks.

Oh that's a GREAT one. The energy that builds in that song along w/ the scene in that movie are just incredible. Fantastic marriage of music and film right there. I was just listening to Mezzanine the other day and every time it starts I think of that scene. Awesome!!!

Never been a big Stones fan, but the other thread on them got me remembering how much I loved Sweet Virginia at the end of Knives Out. Had no idea it was a Stones song at the time.

Such a great instrumental. I will watch anything Darren Aronofsky does. I always connect with his art, whether or not the critics agree.

This doesn't necessarily play a key role in the movie but in Vanilla Sky, in a party scene, the song "Wrecking Ball" by Creeper Lagoon is playing in the background. I remember seeing it in the theatre and loving the song... and this began a months long search. It isn't on the official soundtrack and this was early enough in the internet where just searching for songs called "Wrecking Ball" was pointless and yielded no fruit. Bell I even ended up buying an album at Best Buy because it was some new rock back and it had a song titled "Wrecking Ball" on it, only to find it was not it. I don't remember how I finally figured out who it was but eventually I did. Turns out the entire album is great. They are basically a band that released one amazing album in obscurity and disappeared.

Same here. Drove me down a rabbit hole into that entire genre. My wife walked down the aisle to my brother in law playing You Hand in Mine on piano.

Also I remember being in Hastings or Blockbuster when they had a trailer for the dvd release of Friday Night Lights and it had Beck's "Golden Age" over it and I fell in love with it as well.

Similar one for me - Following A Star by Duke Daniels. It's in American Pie but not on the soundtrack, and by all accounts this is a pretty obscure band. Absolutely love the song though.

Speaking of Creeper Lagoon, I always loved this one from Orange County.

Brass in Pocket, she doesn't sing it all that well, that wasn't the point, but after this I liked the song and Scarlett.
