Bill Murray

Fun website of all the stories involving Bill Murray.

Two stories I remember:

1. Murray would hand out hundred dollar bills to homeless people while working on Ghostbusters.

2. Bill and his brothers always call Kelly Lynch's husband whenever they catch Roadhouse on TV and Swazye/Lynch have their sex scene. Been going on for 20 years.

How in the hell didn't I know that Noah Vanderhoff and Freddie Rumsen were BM's brothers?

Met Kevin James once in New Braunfels. Really nice guy, took the time to talk to everyone that came up to him.
Everything I've read about KJ seems to match your experience. He is a family guy, a church-going Catholic and very loyal to his coworkers. His relationship with Jerry Stiller was heart-warming.
Could you expand on KJ and Jerry Stiller's relationship? All I could find was KJ posted a touching tribute to Jerry on his instagram after Jerry passed. I know they acted together in King of Queens. I was just curious if there was more to the story I am missing.
Well, for starters James really wanted Stiller for KoQ and begged him to come out of retirement. Then he basically hired everyone in Stiller's family to be in KoQ so they could share in the experience. Even Ben Stiller made a couple of cameos.

After the show ended, James apparently kept in close touch with Jerry. I've seen several photos of them together -- on Jerry's birthday, at a Knicks game, etc.

When they did the KoQ table read during the pandemic, it was obvious from the comments that everyone on the show loved Jerry, especially Kevin.

Sweet video of Jerry visiting the home that served as the exterior of his character's house on Seinfeld. He and the couple he meets all seem delightful.

When I was at the Batt, Craig T. Nelson was out at Texas World Speedway one weekend racing cars. We went out to interview/take pictures of him and he asked us what the best place to eat in College Station was, then took us out to eat there for the interview.

Well?!?!?! What was the place?

John Krasinski seems like a super nice guy.

A personal one: I drank beers and had a couple smokes with Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) on the patio of a bar in London. Super nice guy; chatted with me and my friend for about a half hour.

EVH, though he kept a somewhat lower profile, would have been at the top as well. Did some great behind the scenes stuff for fans.

A great story about Eddie's roommate.

And the best experience we had was with Evander Holyfield. Child wanted to meet "The Champ". EH was living in Atlanta but training in Houston at the time. Make A Wish got a hold of his people and plans were made to visit the child at the medical center. Before that could happen, MAW office gets a call from EH himself. The office braced itself for what happens a lot - celebrities canceling - even when the kids are really sick, you are on the celebrities schedule, not the child. Usually results in an agent or manager sending some autographed photos and that's it. EH was wanting to know where the child was being treated and what the treatment schedule was. EH said he was told by his people that the child's wish was to meet him and he would rather go visit the kid himself so the kid wouldn't "waste his wish on meeting me"'and he could get a "good" wish like DisneyWorld or something better. EH went to the hospital with shoes and boxing gloves, met with the family and never told anyone.

My son and I briefly met Kevin Costner after he was done filming JFK for the day outside the NO court house. Still in his lawyer attire he was signing autographs and chatting with everyone. My son called him Mr. Costner and he smiled and replied "Mr. Costner...I like that" and shook my son's hand. Just a brief encounter but one my son still fondly remembers.

Friend is a former Astros player and we were sitting in a suite at a game 5 years ago or so. Kevin Costner was in the same suite and he mad a point to find out everyone's name and ask about them. He walked out on the concourse a couple of times and stood for pictures with everyone who asked. Very impressed.

The Rock is apparently wonderful.

I met a PA on set who had the chance to work on a movie he was in. I want to say it was Fate of the Furious. On one of the first couple days he introduced himself to the PA which was very nice. Production Assistants are pretty low in the pecking order and so it was nice to get a little recognition from him. Filming continues and he doesn't really see him in the course of his job. Like two weeks later the Rock comes in sees the PA and says," Pete! Buddy! How's it going man?" They have a quick little chat and that was it. Over the course of filming, the Rock went around and learned every person's name on set. That's a **** ton of people whom he would probably never have the need to interact with unless he actively wanted to.

Just thought that was a really nice (and difficult) thing to do.

met Frank Thomas at a card convention when I was 12. He was a d***.

Conversely, met Deion a few years back and he was surprisingly nice.

Garth Brooks brought me a pizza once

I had 2 jobs my whole time at A&M

One was working in the Appletree bakery
One was working for Rudder Theatre

For Rudder, I was part of the backstage crew

And for Garth, I was the only chick working

So I got assigned the less strenuous stuff. Taking care of the wardrobe, setting out their trinkets on stage, and making sure there were plenty of drinks and munchies for them.

I was steam ironing shirts when he asked me which one I thought was best.
Told him green is my favorite color, but I think the blue one is better on stage
So he wore that

Not a real country music fan, but he performs well.
Show ends so I start packing up his stuff

He comes in around midnight with a pizza for me. Told me he was concerned I hadn't eaten because I had been there since 7 am. Said it was cheese pizza in case I was a vegetarian because I was in a tie-dyed shirt and had pink and blue striped hair and then tipped me 40 dollars for making sure everything had no wrinkles

Yeah, he cheated on his former wife with the current one, but he was really good to everyone working on his concert

My sister is a professional celloist and her quartet was fortunate enough to be chosen by David Byrne to go on a world wide tour with him for his Look into the Eye Ball tour in 2001. She said he was super down to earth and cool (despite some of the Talking Heads stuff about his ego) and when the tour made it to Dallas he played at The Red Jacket and my sister took me and my wife on a quick tour of their tour bus and we had a few drinks before the show (sweet tour bus and my sister said it spoiled her for all future travel).

After the show we got to meet David and he was running around getting beers for everyone, nobody asked him to but it just struck me how unassuming he was.

I know a couple of people who have had encounters with Chris Hemsworth and say that he was genuinely warm and kind to them. One was a flight attendant who had him in her cabin on a really long flight going home to Australia. He chatted with the cabin crew throughout the flight, and then after they landed he told them that he knew they weren't allowed to ask for pics or take them with their phones, but he'd be happy to do so if they wanted. So he proceeded to take selfies with each of them with his own phone and texted the pics to them. Not a huge sacrifice on his part, but really thoughtful.

The other instance a friend of ours who does weapon training/consulting for movies ran into him at a gym in LA. Hemsworth had never met him but recognized him somehow and came over to introduce himself and they had a nice conversation. Incidentally, the same guy had worked with Keanu Reeves on John Wick and swears he's the nicest person he's ever met.

I was about to comment on how that's a smart way to get the stewardess's phone numbers, but I guess when you're Chris Hemsworth that's a pretty easy problem to solve.

Lol, you wouldn't believe how much grief we've all given our friend's husband because she has Chris Hemsworth's number saved in her phone. But he never texted any of the FAs again and I don't think any of them ever texted him. It seems like he's pretty loyal to his wife, but who can say for sure?

Natalie Portman is the reason I work out. I have this fantasy where we start talking at the Vanity Fair Oscars party bar. We exchange a few pleasantries. She asks what I do. I say I loved her in New Girl. She laughs. I get my drink.

"Well, see ya," I say and walk away. I've got her attention now. How many guys voluntarily leave a conversation with Natalie Portman? She touches her neck as she watches me leave.

Later, as the night's dragged on and the coterie of gorgeous narcissists grows increasingly loose, she finds me on the balcony, my bowtie undone, smoking a cigarette.

"Got a spare?" she asks.

"What's in it for me?" I say as I hand her one of my little white ladies. She smiles.

"Conversation with me, duh."

I laugh.

"What's so funny?" she protests.

"Nothing, nothing... It's just... don't you grow tired of the egos?"

"You get used to it," she says, lighting her cigarette and handing me back the lighter.

"What would you do if you weren't an actress?" I ask.

"Teaching, I think."

"And if I was your student, what would I be learning?"

"Discipline," she says quickly, looking up into my eyes, before changing the subject. "Where are you from?"

"Bermuda," I say.

"Oh wow. That's lovely."

"It's ok," I admit. "Not everything is to my liking."

"What could possibly be not to your liking in Bermuda?" she inquires.

"I don't like sand," I tell her. "It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."

I was following Tom Watson around at the Colonial when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned as RC Slocum smiled, extended his hand and said, "I like your hat." Stood and talked for a few minutes before moving on.
