Any suggestions for good stand up? I'm open to new comedians or established stars, either way.
We loved him before he had that trainwreck of a TV show ... eek!Mort Rainey said:

I'm probably sexist, but female comedians just don't do it for me. Ellen's special on Netflix was ok. That's the only one I've seen recently that I didn't think was terrible.
Tend to agree although we saw Kathleen Madigan(sp?) once many years ago and she was hilarious.AustinAg2K said:
If you've never seen them, Dave Chappelle and Bill Burr are the best out there right now, IMO, followed closely by Mulaney. Arguably, Dave is the greatest of all time. Chapelle and Burr are both edgy, commenting on a lot of social issues. Mulaney doesn't really get into social issues much, but is still really funny. I feel like Nate Bargatze is a step below. More like Mulaney, in that he doesn't attempt social commentary. He is still very funny, though.
I wasn't really a fan of the new Seinfeld or Chris Rock specials. They were my favorites back in the 90s, but I wasn't really into their new specials.
Anthony Jeselink is extremely dark. He's pretty much just one liners, and his delivery is extremely dry. I find him very funny, but I can see how a lot of people would be turned off. He is seriously dark.
I tried Patton Oswalt, but it never really got me laughing.

For classic stuff, Eddie Murphy's "Delirious", Seinfeld's "I'm Telling You For Last Time", Richard Pryor "Live in Concert."
Also, not true stand up, but if you like stand up comedy, watch "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee." It's Seinfeld talking with other comedians about their influences and how the write jokes, and stuff like that. It's usually not fall out of your seat funny, but it's just a good inside look at comedy.

Is it just me or are modern female comedian really really raunchy? Like that is their main bit. This observation has just come from clips from the YouTube suggesting the next stand up clip to watch. But it seems the majority are talking about their sex lives, dating in today's world, and over the top raunch stuff.
Still can't make it through the recent Netflix special. The decision to laugh-track the hell out of it was just terrible. It kills the show instantaneously. It's Big Bang Theory laugh-track on steroids. Awful.inch05 said:

I saw him addressing this somewhere recently, don't remember where. He said they didn't really have much of a choice. Between being outdoors, the audience being so spread out, helicopters flying overhead, etc., you couldn't hear any laughs on the recording.Anagrammatic Nudist said:Still can't make it through the recent Netflix special. No audience sound at all, or even a massive roar of helicopters would have been MUCH better than that laugh-track garbage.boy09 said:I saw him addressing this somewhere recently, don't remember where. But i agree, it is distracting. And it's definitely his weakest special imo. The Tennessee Kid and his half hour set on The Standups are both way better. Full Time Magic is great too, not sure where you can actually watch that one though.
